THE OPPORTUNITY:

This position is responsible for creating, coaching and advancing strong volunteer-based community Affiliates that are aligned to fulfill our organizational goals and mission. Key responsibilities include successfully recruiting and developing strong volunteer leaders who will fully implement the work of the Affiliates, execute and achieve PurpleStride fundraising and campaign goals, and deploy mission and advocacy initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Fundraiser in a peer-to-peer environment, personally securing and stewarding relationships to achieve fundraising goals and manage a sponsorship portfolio, including at a regional sponsorship level
  • Identify, recruit and coach teams, individuals and sponsors to achieve participation and fundraising goals, including innovative, scalable opportunities for growth across region
  • Recruit & retain a diverse and inclusive volunteer base in 2-4 Affiliates and serve as the lead PanCAN staff for these volunteer teams, coaching them to meet “Purple Standard” of performance and composition
  • Implement year-round national campaigns (PurpleStride, November Awareness, Advocacy) and priorities at affiliate level, including national volunteer model and strategies for recruitment and retention
  • Identify & recruit strategic alliance partners that help advance revenue or mission goals
  • Lead volunteers in annual community assessment and goal setting and utilize community organization & mobilization strategies to hold them accountable
  • Identify emerging volunteer talent, top volunteer performers, sponsors with regional and national opportunities and surface 2-3 volunteers annually for national Boards
  • Collaborate with development team to identify and steward mid-level and major gift donors
  • Partner with member of CE leadership to develop volunteer, mission or fundraising strategy as needed
  • Maintain constituent records in Raiser’s Edge for volunteers, donors and other contacts
  • Manage budgets as appropriate
  • Follow national guidelines, processes, and procedures for PurpleStride, volunteer training and community mobilization
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or at least 5 years’ experience in peer-to-peer fundraising, community outreach and mobilization programs, volunteer management, and development, preferably in programs that are regional in scope.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the principles and best practices of volunteer program management, and organizational management.
  • Strong background in peer-to-peer fundraising programs and strategies.
  • Demonstrable success in leading and managing teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse individuals at all organizational levels, both internal and external.
  • Demonstrated ability in effective oral and written communications.
  • A friendly, positive, outgoing, solutions-oriented demeanor and the ability to build and sustain strong relationships with staff, volunteers and donors, both face-to-face and remotely.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and analyze data and make decisions and/or recommendations as required for their markets.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and markets simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with the corporate business environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems (Raiser’s Edge preferred).
  • Knowledge of cancer advocacy, outreach and awareness programs, and grassroots marketing a plus.
  • Remote project and team management skills.
  • Must have an interest in domestic travel and be comfortable navigating new cities.

SALARY RANGE: ($76 - $90k) PanCAN is committed to providing fair and transparent employee pay. Our compensation policy and practices integrate years of relative experience, skills, job duties, functions, responsibilities, education, certifications, expertise, PanCAN seniority, position/title, department, market conditions, and merit, and may also include geographic location. Our base salaries range from Entry level to Experienced and max at Expert level. The base pay range included herein is specific and germane to the job/position/opening as described within this announcement.
