Job description

Our Generation Speaks (OGS) is a non-profit organization that operates a startup accelerator in the Boston area and an alumni network in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. OGS is a young, dynamic, growing organization that has received a multi-million dollar award from USAID to support its scaling plan. Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Communications Coordinator. This position will report to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), and is instrumental in driving OGS's mission forward by partnering communication strategies, assisting with development initiatives, and ensuring effective coordination of activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social impact, strong communication skills, experience in communications and is comfortable with a small team environment that requires handling of routine tasks.

Responsibilities:

Communication Strategy

  • With support from the CAO, execute a comprehensive communication strategy to enhance OGS's visibility and impact.
  • Craft compelling narratives and content for various platforms, including social media, website, collaterals, and newsletters.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
  • Create copy for print and digital materials such as brochures, direct mail, advertising, flyers, emails, signage, and other special projects.
  • Proofread and edit materials for brand tone, errors, and inconsistencies.
  • Update and maintain copy on OGS website.
  • Support communications for events.

Development Coordination:

  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating meetings with donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the OGS team to align communication and development efforts with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with Our Generation Speaks fellows and alumni to highlight their achievements and impact.
  • Partner with team members to ensure accurate database recording, acknowledgement procedures, and reporting.
  • Coordinate between CAO and the business department to reconcile development and business financials.

This position includes all but is not limited to the above responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience in communications and/or marketing, or a commensurate field, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong written, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a responsive, flexible, and collaborative environment.
  • Strategic thinker who is creative and able to navigate change.
  • Experience preferred with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva, email marketing and social media platforms, and digital marketing strategies.
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of cultures and personalities.
  • Capable of being flexible, effectively managing stress, and adapting to changing work priorities.
  • A team player with a positive and entrepreneurial spirit.

Compensation and Requirements

The Communications Coordinator position is an outstanding opportunity to join a high-growth, mission-driven organization. OGS offers a competitive compensation package including health & life insurance, paid time off, 401K, and other benefits.

The salary range for this position is $58,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience and skill set.

Location: This is a hybrid role. When working on-site, this role is based at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, with some working hours based at MassChallenge Boston in the Seaport district. During the summer this role has the potential to become fully in person.
