In this critical role, the Human Resources Generalist will help run the daily functions of the People Operations department including hiring staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. A Human Resources Generalist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the People Operations department.
This is an Intermediate-Level position and will report directly to the VP of Finance. This position is located in Tampa, FL and is onsite - not a remote opportunity.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Be the primary backup for payroll processing, including; weekly updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, tracking vacation/sick pay, importing expense reimbursements, inputting exceptions, hourly employee validations, and benefit changes.
  • Onboarding and educating newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures and regulations.
  • Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs.
  • Maintaining physical and digital files for employees and their documents and benefits.
  • Administers workers’ compensation, unemployment and disability claims.
  • Administers auto accident policies, investigates accidents, and submits claims to carrier.
  • Taking appropriate disciplinary action against employees who violate rules and regulations and addressing employee grievances.
  • Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR departments and organization as a whole, and to improve employee experience.
  • Assists with administration of company-wide Human Resources policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with stated corporate objectives and federal and state legal requirements.
  • Provide an effective and dedicated HR advisory service to employees in relation to absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters
  • Performs payroll-related functions including but not limited to processing new hires, termination status changes, tax changes, wage garnishments, deductions, and direct deposit.
  • Responds to routine inquiries concerning payroll deductions, and accruals, wage garnishments, child support payments, and employment verifications. Responds to employee inquiries regarding the organization’s processes, policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Interfaces with managers and health care professionals to coordinate accommodations, return-to-work, light duty, and other responses for injured or disabled employees.
  • Manage the organization’s employee database and prepare reports.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices.
  • Assist People Operations team with other general employee related duties and special projects – employee engagement.
  • Maintains and orders supplies for the People Operations department as needed.
  • Maintains a solid, working understanding of company’s services and company culture.

Additional skills and qualifications:
In order to effectively manage a company’s employees, the Human Resources Generalist should have certain hard and soft skills, including:
  • Knowledge of administrative tasks and responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills, Intermediate to Advanced Excel, including data entry, data processing, communication tools and payroll and Human Resources software
  • Problem-solving skills and resourceful thinking
  • Leadership and coaching skills
  • Strong empathy and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and analytically driven
  • 2+ years of HR experience
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a HUGE PLUS; MaintenX is Nationwide

Compensation: $17-$23 p/h based on experience
