Health Benefits Specialist - Pharmacy
The Health Benefits Specialist / Pharmacy Technician ensures an exceptional customer experience for those utilizing services through the pharmacy benefits as well as coordinating services at Employee Health Benefits (EHB). You will perform specialized technical administrative duties in support of the pharmacy benefits and other EHB programs as needed including but not limited to prior authorization processing, clinical strategic planning, data analysis, benefits administration, and consultation with the pharmacy benefits manager and pharmacy consultants.

Required Skills
- High school graduate/equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience related to processing, verifying, and maintaining documentation of required client information.
- Current unrestricted state license required.
- Pharmacy technician certification required within one (1) year from date of hire.
- Understanding of medical and pharmacy terminology.
- Understanding of programs such as Microsoft Excel
Administrative Duties for CLINICAL PHARMACY HEALTH BENEFITS SPECIALIST POSITION
Provides comprehensive management, facilitating the delivery of appropriate quality healthcare in evaluating, authorizing, and communicating prior authorization pharmacy requests according to clinical guidelines. Performs prospective and/or retrospective drug utilization review under the supervision of a clinical pharmacist. Promotes cost effective outcomes and improve program/operational efficiency. This position also participates in the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of program initiatives.
First point of contact on established Prior Authorizations for members, local pharmacists, and prescribers.
Collaborates with other medical personnel in developing treatment guidelines and demonstrates the impact of these guidelines.
Research and data analysis leading to overall plan benefit assessment and recommendations for clinical and cost saving opportunities for the member and the plan. May participate in formulary development and management.
Provides reporting on utilization trends as well as industry trends and opportunities.
Active participant of the Behavioral Health and Diabetes Supply programs by providing clinical knowledge to the Team as well as case management to the participating members when necessary:
Provides guidance on drug supplies and new product availability.Employment Type: Full-Time (Hourly)
