About us

The Children's Ministry Coordinator is a part-time position in a local Christian church and not a child-care provider.

The Sanctuary Fellowship is a non-denominational church in Richmond, Texas, who is a family of faith, living love, and giving hope.

The Children’s Ministry Coordinator(CMC) is responsible for overseeing the entire children’s ministry (nursery - 5th grade) to help lead kids to experience Jesus better by intentionally providing a Bible-centered, fun, and safe place to grow in wisdom, stature, favor with God, and favor with people.

The CMC will envision, prepare and implement a cohesive children’s ministry as well as recruit and train leaders who will touch children’s lives with God’s love, teach them God’s Word, provide fellowship with God’s people, and equip them to be on mission in God’s world.

This is a critical role in the life of our growing church and it will require a personable, motivated and organized individual to help to attract young families and most importantly, serve the children of TSF and the surrounding community.

The ideal candidate should be a spiritually mature follower of Jesus who is highly competent, proactive, creative, and flexible in working with people of all ages. This person should also possess strong organization and communication skills, and be able to plan and implement children’s ministry activities.

The expected time commitment for this role is 20 hours per week, which may be higher during special events focused on children’s ministry. Starting hourly pay is $18.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead a ministry that nurtures and grows children’s personal relationships with Jesus and prepares them for a lifelong journey of following and serving Him.
• Create a system for recruiting, training, and growing volunteer leaders.
• Lead and work with volunteers to develop, implement, and maintain children’s ministry throughout the year such as:
• Sunday morning children’s classroom experiences
• Summer Vacation Bible School event
• Children’s Easter Egg Hunt
• Children’s Christmas Event
• Community ministry
• Evaluate and manage age-appropriate curriculum, materials, and space for children’s ministry.
• Oversee, recruit, and train the church’s childcare volunteers for special events and life groups.

Additional Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly and effectively with the congregation and surrounding community in order to inform, invite, and inspire as it relates to children’s ministry.
• Maintain consistent communication with parents.
• Maintain updated information of all children in ministry (and visitors) including but not limited to allergies, contact information, and special needs.
• Create and maintain a children’s ministry calendar of all events and activities.
• Work with the Associate Pastor to ensure there is cohesion and collaboration between the children’s and student ministries.
• Work with the Associate Pastor so that parents/guardians of the children in the ministry are connected with the overall life of the church.
• Manage the children’s ministry budget.
• Participate in staff events and meetings.
• Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications and Aptitudes

Must confess Jesus as Lord and Savior and show evidence of growing personal relationship with Him.

Must have at least 2 years experience in a leadership role in children’s ministry and/or experience in an educational/teaching setting with children.

Must be in agreement with TSF’s Statements of Faith (available on our website) and participate in our covenant members’ class to be a member of TSF.

Must be trained in Protect My Ministry child safety course and complete a background check (both provided by employer).

Must possess strong organizational and communication skills, and be skilled in planning and implementing children’s ministry activities. Must be able to delegate responsibilities, work well with others, and ensure completion of tasks.

Must possess an understanding of child development and the ability to select age-appropriate curriculum and activities.

Must be physically able to move freely while with children and provide adequate care for children from birth through 5th grade.
