OverviewVocation Ministry is a Catholic nonprofit located in northwest Houston, Texas. Our mission is to train, equip, and encourage priests, parishioners, and educators to promote vocations to the priesthood, consecrated life, and sacramental marriage in their parishes and schools in a variety of ways. We seek to hire and retain employees skilled in their field, active in their Catholic faith, and enthusiastically dedicated to carrying out Vocation Ministry's mission.

Chief Operating Officer
About the Position
The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for setting and implementing Vocation Ministry's operations plan and creating a strategy to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity. This includes managing staff and projects and identifying new ideas for process improvement. The Chief Operating Officer reports to the President of Vocation Ministry.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the President in setting organizational vision and operations strategy.
- Translate operations strategy into actionable steps for growth.
- Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a culture that ensures high productivity where team members can thrive, and organizational goals are met.
- Communicate effectively with leadership, staff, and Board members.
- Ensure effective professional development and performance management of staff.
- Oversee and participate in recruiting, onboarding, and retention of employees.
- Review and ensure compliance with business regulations and company policies.
- Support the President in facilitating regular Board communication and planning quarterly Board meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
Vocation Ministry seeks applicants who are highly motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized, have strong written and oral communication skills, and have a deep commitment to our mission and work. The candidate should be a strong team player who can also work independently.
As the ideal candidate you will also have:
- Demonstrated success in cultivating a strong, efficient workplace and managing employees.
- Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues.
- Minimum five years of operations experience.
- High-level working knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate effectively.
- Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.
- Willingness and tenacity in seeking new and improved processes.
- Practical experience in managing nonprofit organizations.
- Good foundation and understanding of the Catholic faith.
- Prior operations experience with faith-based organizations.
- Experience with Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOO) or other formal management system.
Hours/Salary/Benefits
- 40 hours per week.
- Flexible hours.
- Work from home.
- 7 company holidays.
- Salary commensurate with experience.
