Role Overview:
As Chief Financial Officer for our client, a PE-backed Renewable Energy Holding Company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and strategic growth of both the Holding Company and its portfolio companies. Your mission is to bring financial leadership that not only safeguards the bottom line but also empowers our businesses to thrive, grow, and create lasting impact.
Key Objectives:
1. Provide strategic financial guidance
- Collaborate closely with portfolio company leadership to understand their unique financial challenges and opportunities.
- Provide strategic financial guidance, leveraging your experience to help our companies navigate complex financial landscapes.
- Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the overarching goals of the business.
- Manage and oversee the Controller and team of four accounting staff.
2. Drive operational excellence
- Lead financial planning and analysis to enhance the financial performance of our portfolio companies.
- Evaluate existing financial systems and processes, identifying areas for optimization, automation, and efficiency improvement.
- Streamline and shorten the month-end close processes.
- Develop and implement processes for real-time financial reporting capabilities.
- Play an integral role in achieving operational excellence by optimizing costs and identifying opportunities for revenue growth.
3. Contribute significantly to investment due diligence
- Participate in the evaluation and due diligence process for potential investment opportunities.
- Assess the financial health, risks, and growth potential of target companies to inform investment decisions.
- Collaborate with the PE team to ensure alignment between financial strategies and investment objectives.
4. Establish, develop, and foster exceptional professional relationships
- Cultivate strong relationships with the financial leadership of our portfolio companies.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on financial matters and fostering collaboration.
- Foster a culture of financial transparency and accountability within the portfolio companies.
- Assist in the integration of newly acquired companies.
5. Champion continuous improvement
- Stay at the forefront of financial best practices, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
- Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement in financial processes and systems.
- Further build out the financial structure for the Holding Company and shared services
- Prioritize more frequent and regular reporting, leveraging an ERP system for weekly revenue updates, reducing the need for multiple days or weeks for reporting. Real-time reporting is crucial.
Specific Qualifications:
- Proven and progressive experience as a financial leader.
- Exceptional financial acumen and the ability to drive financial transparency and performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- A collaborative and team-oriented approach.
- Experience with NetSuite or ERP implementations preferred.
- Experience with project-based revenue and job costing is required.
- Demonstrated success in a hands-on, results-driven environment.
- Experience executing and integrating acquisitions is a plus.
