William A. Hazel, Inc., a total site development contractor for over 60 years, is seeking a highly skilled Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our finance department and drive our financial strategy forward, as our current CFO approaches retirement. As the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial direction of our company. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, risk management, and strategic financial decision-making. The CFO will collaborate closely with the executive team to develop and execute financial strategies that support our overall business objectives and drive sustainable growth.
Essential Functions
- Direct the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
- Oversee Accounting, Human Resources, and IT departments, budget preparation, and audit functions. Meet regularly with department heads to keep informed and offer direction.
- Review reports to analyze projections of revenue and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against actual totals, and suggest methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.
- Analyze company operations to pinpoint opportunities and areas that need to be reorganized, downsized, or eliminated.
- Confer with CEO, executive team, and department managers to coordinate and prioritize planning.
- Study long-range economic trends and project company prospects for future growth in overall revenues, opportunities for acquisitions, or expansion into new product areas. Estimate requirements for capital, land, and buildings.
- Supervise investment of funds; work with banks and/or investment bankers to raise additional capital as required.
- Oversee corporate insurance programs, including evaluating/selecting brokers and carriers, and negotiating insurance coverage.
- Assist with related company’s monthly and annual accounting and audits.
- Perform the function of corporate Secretary and Treasurer. Prepare financial presentations to the Board of Directors.
- Coordinate with VP of Safety and Human Resources department for insurance claim management.
- Represent Hazel's executive team at industry events and participate in related organizations.
- Coordinate prequalification activities with estimating department.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Administration, and 10-15 years of related experience. (Master's degree helpful).
- CPA designation highly desirable.
- Proven experience as a CFO or in a similar financial leadership role.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Office and Vista software suites preferred.
- Prior experience in the construction industry is a plus.
