Channel Business Development Representative Job Description
The Channel Business Development Representative role is largely a pre-sales role responsible for two things: 1) Generating new referral partners and 2) developing new opportunities from existing channel partner relationships. Both of these activities result in new opportunities for our business and also keep our channel partners satisfied with our program.
The main metric that a Channel Business Development Representative will use to see if they are achieving their goal for us is: How many opportunities did they discover and set up for our sales organization? To be clear: the Channel Business Development Representative will not be responsible for closing any opportunities, only for getting them lined up for our remarkable sales team to pursue.
The lovely thing about the Channel Business Development Representative role is that our Channel Partners really want to work with us, and they are happy to rely on our Channel team to figure out if there are new opportunities for them to submit. The whole program is set up in a way that should make it easy for a Channel Business Development Representative to succeed.
The Channel Business Development Representative role is a highly visible position that will require continual, enthusiastic interaction with external and internal resources. This role will operate in close collaboration with the Channel Manager, who will set the tone for your activities and collaborate with you on achieving success.
The Channel Business Development Representative opportunity is focused on working with people in the MSP (Managed Service Provider) industry. Anyone who has experience interacting with MSP and who understands their pain points, particularly with regards to the (typically strained) relationship between MSP and MPS (Managed Print Services) vendors, will jump to the front of the line. A great candidate for this role will also have incredible interpersonal skills, including the ability to have conversations with any level of an organization from CEO to Field Engineers to Salespeople to Support Desk technicians and everybody in between.
