Job description

Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
Under medical supervision, perform simple nursing tasks involved in the care of physically ill or disabled patients in a State correctional facility in CDCR, assist the physician or nurse with examination and treatments of patients, motivate and assist patients in developing and utilizing their maximum potential for self-care, maintain order and supervise the conduct of inmates, youthful offenders, or patients, protect and maintain the safety of persons and property, maintain security of work areas and work materials, and do other related work.

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a valid Nursing Assistant Certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health.
All employees must have general qualifications as described by California Code of Regulations, title 2, section 172.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

  • This Recruitment is for Limited Intermittent Employee (L.I.E.)
  • This position will be limited to 1500 hours per calendar year (January 1st through December 31st) and will be used on an on-call, as-needed basis with no guarantee of hours or a certain shift.
  • Intermittent time base is Positive Pay. Payroll for Positive Pay employees is issued from attendance reports after close of the pay period and is paid by the 15th of the following month.
  • LTINP staff are not eligible for health benefits, regardless of their hours of work (Per PML 2013-030)
  • This recruitment may be used to fill fractional intermittent positions with less than 1500 hrs.
