Qualifications/Requirements:
RAT-I or CCAPP Certification or registered with CAADE, CADC, or ACCBC. 2 years’ experience with adolescent chemical dependency population and 12-step model; 2 years sobriety if in recovery.
DUTIES:
Orientation of new clients to program rules.
Collect and distribute attendance/court cards weekly.
Observe and monitor client’s behavior and intervene when necessary.
Document observations / milieu interventions in client log.
Conduct UA drug screen collection when directed, following appropriate procedures (contact Fed-Ex Daily for pick up). Samples should never be left for longer than 1 day or overnight.
Order drug testing supplies, keeping cabinet always stocked.
Monitor drug test results.
Drive clients to designated destinations, which include (but not limited to) gym, lunch, 12 step meetings and other activities.
Contact client sponsor’s weekly noting progress in sponsor log bi-weekly unless directed otherwise.
Supervise teens on breaks, during day program, and between groups.
Make parent phone calls (5 per week).
Check client cell phones; including social media activity.
Supervision of 12 Step meetings with clients and participate in on-call rotation.
Contact parents when clients are absent.
Upload UA’s and body checks into Best Notes.
When census low- work on small projects, create trip videos, or any assignment asked by Program Director .
Organize fellowship with parents and give all info to designated counselor.
Participate in trips.
Provide clinical consultation to referral resources, mentors, family members, and others to help support clients in their recovery.
Work closely with clients to engage them in the decision-making process and help them understand the benefits of assessment and accessing the appropriate level of care as indicated.
Counselors are also responsible to drive clients to 12 step meeting, lunch, fellowship, and weekend events to Catalina Island and Big Bear.
Collect information from collateral resources to aid in determining diagnosis and need for treatment.
Assist clients with scheduling an admission or first appointment date at the program or facility where they are referred.
Model and support health and wellness activities and healthy coping skills for clients.
Provide transportation for clients to intake and other appointments as needed.
Work cooperatively with the legal system to ensure coordination of services including court appearances when appropriate.
Complete paperwork requirements and maintain quality, up-to-date clinical records, including Outcomes Survey information; enter necessary information into electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Consult with clinical director.
Maintain working knowledge of other drug and alcohol treatment agencies and programs and a list of resources that can be shared with clients.
Remain in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, including all of Insight’s policies and procedures and Quality Assurance Plan.
Participate in all assigned meetings, staff development, and training as required.
Provide back-up assistance to Therapists with group therapy and psycho-education groups as necessary.
