The goal of Foodbuy's Internship program is to provide an opportunity to engage in impactful projects acquiring hands-on data analytics experience across departments in the organization while balancing professional development and leadership growth sessions within a dynamic, hybrid work environment. The expected duration of this internship is 10 weeks with a start date of May 20, 2024.
What are Sourcing and Category Development?

• The Sourcing team provides best in class procurement solutions for committed customers. The team negotiates trade agreements with vendors, monitors market changes, financial targets, first time contracts, and contract expirations. The team also negotiates the best net cost and benchmarks Foodbuy's negotiated programs, versus the market. Additionally, the team mitigates out of contract price increases and helps develops alternate sources of supply.
• Category Development is responsible for managing and growing their assigned categories and suppliers. They work on annual budgeting and forecasting for their suppliers, as well as assist with supplier account receivable collections and VA dispute resolutions. They mitigate price increases, establish pricing structures, manage suppliers and their contracts, serve as product experts, implement new Foodbuy programs, and resolve issues with suppliers. They also help Compass Sectors and Foodbuy members work with diverse suppliers and meet sustainability goals.

In a Category Development or Sourcing role you can expect exposure to the below:

• Learn about the Foodbuy supply chain network.
• Assist in process improvement, data driven solutions to improve the reliability of Foodbuy's purchase data.
• Assist in the analysis of purchase information as a means of supporting compliance and revenue generating activities.
• Involvement in special projects that support specific initiatives occurring at the time of internship.
• Understand what role Supplier Diversity and Sustainability play into Foodbuy overall goals.
• Learn the Sourcing 7 step process
• Support sourcing managers in gathering market information, data and statistics to help drive sourcing strategies.
• Participate in projects that enhance and improve the ongoing maintenance of Foodbuy contracts.

Requirements:

• Sophomore or Junior studying supply chain, finance, business, analytics or other relevant courses
• Experience with Excel, Word, Outlook
• Strong analytical and technical skills
• Solid organizational and communication skills
