Our principals have significant experience investing in healthcare, consumer products, and regulated markets. We have been actively focused on the cannabis industry since 2015 and have recently added a new partner for Ethos Cannabis who has experience developing and leading a successful and respected cannabis operator in the U.S.
PositionSummary/Objective
The Assistant Cannabis Procurement Manager is responsible for executing the purchasing of cannabis and cannabis accessories according to the demand and category management master plans. They will purchase inventory across multiple dispensary locations throughout the company's cannabis dispensary locations in Pennsylvania. This position will work closely with the retail and production teams, ensuring that purchasing tasks and functions are properly executed for each location. They will work closely with Cannabis Procurement Manager to properly use the seed-to-sale tracking system MJ Freeway to create Purchase Orders and identify aging inventory. Managing these systems is extremely critical to our dispensary inventories and the success of our company. We are building a strong ethical and team-oriented culture at Ethos Cannabis and are looking for this position to help lead and implement this vision.
The ideal candidate has the ability to adapt to our business model and has demonstrated field specific experience, as he or she will be given responsibility over the purchasing of inventory for our business to deliver a best-in-class and innovative cannabis retail experience. Previous cannabis experience is a plus but not required; however, all candidates should have some familiarity and comfortability with cannabis.
Responsibilities
- Execute Demand and Category Management plans through purchasing of cannabis and non-cannabis accessories
- Report on Monthly Spend by vendor and assist in vendor scoring
- Ensure Purchase Orders are created and that Purchase Order numbers are submitted with order forms
- Use the ERP system to create credit requests for GP Promotions and Patient Education Days
- Provide Inventory Aging reports to dispensaries
- Communicate master pricing updates to the Inventory Data Manager
- Work closely with the site Fulfillment Specialists on training (procedures and systems), compliance, issue resolution, and support with systems as needed (MJ Freeway, Dutchie, etc.)
- In conjunction with the Cannabis Procurement Manager, align and delegate purchasing tasks and responsibilities within the Cannabis Procurement Department.
- Support with scheduling deliveries to our dispensaries from our grow facility and from other 3rd party grower-processors, as needed
- Work collaboratively with compliance, security, and transportation leadership regarding compliance, loss prevention, security, and logistics on all mutual issues and in prioritization of needs
- Work together with dispensary management to address Vendor performance or other product related issues
- Maintain compliance with all Company policies, standards, values, and procedures
- Travel to dispensary locations may be required, with daily visits needed at times, depending on issues. This role may also require trips to our Grower/Processor facility. Total travel time will depend on the issues that occur.
- This position will report directly to the Cannabis Procurement Manager
Qualifications
Education:
- College degree strongly preferred Work Experience:
- 3-5 years of inventory management experience; preferably in a retail dispensary
- Considerable exposure to retail cultures focused on well-developed standard operating procedures and management and employee training programs
- Experience in and/or understanding inventory management and reconciliation
- Work history that demonstrates stability, progressive responsibility, and willingness to accept new duties

- Proficiency in computer usage including inventory management and retail point-of-sale software, all MS Office applications, email, scheduling software, online conferencing, and more
- Ability to develop, analyze, and interpret key performance metrics, and read, analyze, and interpret reports relating to inventory performance metrics
- Strong problem-solving skills including anticipatory thinking and the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm composure
- Demonstrated ability to work comfortably and effectively within a diverse, multicultural, multigenerational environment
OtherRequirements:
- Extended time sitting, walking, bending, and reaching is possible
- Must pass stringent state background test requirements
Compensation:
- This position is classified as Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay.
