Job Description:
This position receives (by telephone, fax, mail, or internet) requests for orders, quotations, and lead-times from customers. Makes quotations on standard items, inputs orders, and relays pertinent information to our customers. Coordinates with other departments in handling purchase orders and providing service to our customers.
Functions include:
- Receives telephone requests for price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, technical information, and cancellations directly from customers. Analyze the requests, provide information requested, or route the request to proper department.
- Retrieve customer information, stock status information, purchase order items, and make changes as needed to customer purchase orders.
- Make price quotations immediately by telephone, fax, or e-mail on catalog items. Prepare forms for special order item quotes not in catalog and route to proper departments.
- Contact distributors to meet customer’s delivery requirements. Relay information to customers.
- Contact customers to retrieve data omitted from orders.
- Searches company records under telephone number, zip code, name, address, and account number.
- Trace shipments for customers via UPS or common carrier.
- Acquires knowledge of product line, prices, delivery time, drop ship items, and various computer screens.
Qualifications:
- Clear and articulate telephone voice.
- Computer skills, data entry, word-processing.
- Good reading comprehension.
- Detail-oriented, able to follow explicit directions.
- Good communication skills.
- Upbeat and positive attitude.
