PPCU Job Description

·         Title:  Business Development Specialist

·         Reports to:  Marketing Manager

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Business Development Specialist position is to lead the credit union’s overall approach and strategy to promote and grow the membership and usage of products and services across all channels while managing applicable vendors and other business partners.  This role requires a unique blend of Business Development acumen and proficiency in digital marketing. This position will create a plan that capitalizes on the expansion of the field of membership, establishes and nurtures strategic partnerships, and engages in the community to help build our brand.  The ability to motivate or influence all staff is an important aspect of the role. This requires gaining trust, high energy, and obtaining agreement within our organization. The position will be expected to be proficient in all aspects of financial/banking marketing related regulatory issues, gather information, be sales driven, and prepare reports as assigned.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:

·         Recruits new Select Employer Groups (SEGs), members, and opportunities by scheduling visits, member drives, presentations, events, benefit fairs, financial education seminars and other activities. 

·         Cross-sells products and services to meet potential and current member needs. 

·         Tracks and accurately reports all sales metrics, including membership eligibility, incentives, events, and activity to evaluate the effectiveness of Business Development strategies.

·         Collaborates with the Marketing Mgr. to develop and execute Business Development efforts to support our strategic goals and objectives. 

·         Recommends and implements new programs and enhancements based on feedback and observations in the field. 

·         Collaborates within the Marketing Team on sales activities, including visits with SEG contacts, workshops, and other sales events. 

·         Participates on inter-departmental project teams. 

·         Acts as a liaison between PPCU and external entities to establish mutually beneficial partnerships. Cultivates and maintains these relationships to foster business growth and brand visibility. 

·         Coordinates with Operations Team (member facing staff) to ensure staff is knowledgeable about Business Development events and efforts. 

·          Develops sales tools and provides event support as a part of the marketing team.

·         Attends credit union and non-credit union events seeking business and relationship opportunities. 

·          Keeps abreast of operational procedures, product offerings, regulations, and training requirements.

·         Monitors and reports performance of products and services e.g.: analyze statistical data to identify trends, cross sell products/ services, track leads/sales activity and make recommendations.

·         Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Completes all required training as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
·         Proven track record of being self-motivated, self-directed, and proactive in previous roles, demonstrating an innate drive to take ownership of tasks and initiatives

·         Ability to be well organized, work independently and autonomously, showing proactive initiative in decision-making and problem-solving (alone or on a team) 

·         Ability to learn and perform complex processes and duties

·         Expresses excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms

·         Ability to network and foster relationships to bring business to the credit union

·         Broad knowledge of, and proven experience with, credit union or other financial institution operating areas, functions, products, and services preferred

·         Detail oriented, in order to generate accurate/ precise work, while meeting deadlines, even under pressure

·         Provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems  

·         Ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in an efficient and effective manner

·         Outside and inside sales skills

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, and content management systems.

EDUCATION:

·         Bachelor’s Degree preferred or comparable education and work experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Performs primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting to 20 lbs. Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled office environment. Must be able to go up and down stairs/ ladders when required. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer (keyboard/ten key) for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to operate routine office equipment (phone, copier, fax, calculator, etc.)  Must be able to work extended hours when required or requested. Must be capable of regular and timely attendance.
