We are looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR) who will be an integral part of the Sales organization to drive new business qualification and create expansion opportunities. This role will be responsible for developing a pipeline of highly qualified leads generated from existing customer prospecting and our lead database. The ideal candidate is goal focused, self-motivated, and committed to an exceptional customer experience.
The BDR will have a vested interest in the growth of CPower and be will accountable to functions of our strategic growth initiatives, which have quickly propelled us to become one of the most successful energy management companies in North America. This position will report to the West Region RVP & GM and engage directly with the organization, marketing, customers and partners.
This is a remote position for candidates located in Texas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Articulate and advocate for the role of the Consumer in the Customer Powered Grid.
- Understand various ISO, Utility and CPower’s managed demand response programs in the West Region.
- Identify and qualify new opportunities for Consumers to participate in these programs within CPower’s West Region.
- Leverage data tools and the marketing database to engage in sales development and follow-up activities which may include phone calls, emails and direct mail.
- Own lead creation through opportunity development process for new business generated through customer research.
- Manage the assignment of opportunities to the appropriate regional and national account executives.
- Qualify leads to sales opportunities, then proactively schedule sales calls and appointments for account executives.
- Conduct follow up and outreach to leads residing in the prospect database.
- Manage the data integrity of lead data into the CRM, following the company’s data quality standards.
- Work closely with Sales Operations and Sales Management to understand and support opportunity creation for areas of high importance to growth.
- Work with the Marketing organization to understand messaging strategy, campaigns, and collateral for engaging and developing opportunities for specific verticals and customer types.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- 7+ Years of experience in sales or Business Development.
- Energy & Utility experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on telephone.
- Experience utilizing a CRM is required (MS Dynamics, Salesforce or comparable).
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Must have a passion for customer communication, achieving goals & team collaboration.
- Demonstrate critical and creative thinking, motivation and enthusiasm, and a proactive disposition.
- Occasional travel may be required to engage in CPower regional sales meetings, industry events, & warm business turnover meetings (less than 10%).
- Ability to work independently against a goal and follow best practices.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of the energy industry is a plus.
- Understanding email communication best practices.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
