The Business Development Manager- Wire and Cable is responsible for generating and leading new sales of existing offerings or new offerings into the Power and Communication markets. The opportunities created by the Business Development Manager will be developed as part of the GROW process, the annual AOP process, and as assigned by the Strategic Planning & Marketing Director. The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Account Managers to hand-off new sales, with Marketing to understand market trends and customer needs, new emerging solution development, and with technical team to develop and deliver the new solutions to the market to drive the business growth.
The Business Development Manager will be held responsible to manage the portfolio of solution development projects for the growth of the Power and Communication driven business opportunities. He/She will lead, establish, and delegate a project team for each project that is identified and prioritized by strategic marketing to support the market growth. He/She will own the progress and success of these projects and ensure they continue to move through the process in a timely manner. They will also work closely with strategic marketing manager to initiate ideas for addition projects for their market and are responsible for the health of their market funnel.
Collaborating with key stakeholders in NA, Asia, and other new regions to develop solutions that will address customer needs in different regions. Maximize GEON’s value creation in the Power and Communication segment globally.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develops a deep understanding of new market and product opportunities.
- Establishes contacts and networks within key markets and industries as well as academic institutions to define market needs and facilitate discussion on technologies available to meet these needs. Feed new ideas to the GROW process.
- Validates the efficacy and value proposition of new offerings, as a Liaison between all functions, to solidify product scope, specifications / timing, regulatory, and costs of any new product development.
- Provides front line feedback where retooling or improving the offering is required or warranted.
- Provides insights to the marketing team regarding marketing collateral needs and utilizes this collateral to create industry awareness for the new offering.
- Leads cross functional team to develop the new solutions and scale up new opportunities for market growth and development, using the defined stage gate process.
- Serves as the GEON point person and champion at the customer during incubation/scale up.
- Collects and translates the voice of the customer to lead development of new product/market and service offerings that meet customer’s needs and wants.
- Leads training efforts for distribution channels involving new offerings.
- Reports account activity highlights, market intel, customer VOC and account plans for subsequent weeks.
- In partnership with the product management and marketing team to recommend, negotiate, and implement pricing strategy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience successfully leading new Business Development in Wire and Cable markets. Prior experience with polymer industry and Polyolefins materials a plus.
- Demonstrates leadership skills in a business team environment.
- Experience in managing global Business Development or working with global teams.
- Experience using innovative approaches to creating new product concepts.
- Experience with planning and delivering effective technical presentations to groups.
