Job description

Avineon, Inc. is actively seeking a motivated, high-energy individual to drive our geospatial Business Development efforts in the US Federal market.  As a Business Development Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for all Business Development and growth activities (identification, qualification, and capture) of a broad array of Spatial Intelligence solutions. Reporting to the Vice President, Growth Operations, the individual will be on point to manage client and partner relationships for this market within our growth team and will contribute to the overall Business Development strategy for the Civilian and DoD markets.


  • Develop and execute strategic account plans in the Federal Civilian and Defense Market.
  • Identify, qualify and capture business opportunities, develop long-term client and partner relationships, guide proposal development efforts, and other related Business Development activities delivering against an annual revenue target.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with, leading and significantly contributing to the development of a federal GIS solution based on client goals, objectives and requirements.
  • Have an active network of GIS focused partners and demonstrated experience in building teams intended to deliver GIS based solutions for clients.
  • A proven understanding of geospatial solutions and an in-depth knowledge of the federal sales processes.
  • A demonstrated technical understanding of Geospatial solutions applicable to a variety of requirements (i.e. 2D/3D Data services, asset management, organizational resilience, climate change, BIM/GEOBIM).
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, follow-up, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Ability to establish and build relationships quickly at all levels within the client environment.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to serve client needs.

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, marketing, or a technology field such as Computer Science, Natural Sciences. Environmental Science, Urban Planning or other similar degree. (Successful work related experience in a geospatial solutions company may substitute.)
  • 3-5 years proven, direct client engagement, Business Development experience with a focus on geospatial/spatial data solutions.
  • 5 – 10 years successfully selling Geospatial Intelligence solutions in the US federal market space.
  • 7 – 12 years experience “actively” engaged in selling to the federal government. Actively, defined as having existing recurring client relationships up and down their target client/market focus that they can name and potentially use as a reference.
  • Existing client relationships in the DoD (eg., Army. Air Force, Navy, or USMC) or civilian market (e.g., USDA, Interior, Commerce, USGS, EPA).
