Position Summary:
The Business Development Banker is responsible for supporting the deposit growth of the Virtual Branch focused on outreach, joint calls with lenders and by providing an exceptional in-branch customer service experience. Utilizing a needs-based selling approach, the Business Development Banker will provide banking product and services solutions based on customer needs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Establish new banking relationship with customers ensuring they are offered all the products and services that are appropriate given their financial needs.
- Fulfills sales goals by working with Treasury Sales Officers, Lenders and Branch personnel, prospects and customers through joint and independent calling efforts.
- Provides support and sales of Merchant Services and treasury management and deposit products by assisting Treasuring Sales Officers, Commercial Lenders and Branch Managers in preparation and presentation of customer proposals, including Merchant Services, MercForce and Treasury. This requires:
- Joint calling support
- Independent calling efforts
- Extensive Technical product information
- Retain and deepen existing customer relationships through a needs based selling approach and delivering exceptional customer experiences. Identifies customer needs and matches needs with appropriate product or service, utilizing opportunities to suggest or cross-sell other bank products and services.
- Must possess a strong knowledge of products and services offered.
- Provide account servicing and maintenance and assist with problem resolution for customers in accordance with all established procedures and regulations.
- Logs customer interactions, referrals and sales into the Mercantile Customer Relationship System (360 View) with good follow-up.
- As necessary, may interview loan customers and prepare legal and financial documentation necessary to process the loan. Assist management by responding to customer inquiries regarding rates and applications.
- Coordinates and execute customer training and implementation of Merchant Services and Treasury solutions.
- Maintains compliance with Bank policies, procedures and operational integrity. Adheres to audit requirements. Performs key security procedures and ensures proper controls are in place to limit risk exposure to the Bank. Must comply with BAS/AML/OFAC regulations and guidelines. May be asked to disseminate information on procedural and operational changes/updates to branch staff through weekly meetings.
- Work as a team player to assist co-workers and managers in completing daily branch tasks and responsibilities
- Comply with all laws, regulations, bank policies, and procedures.
- Complete all required training on time.
- Other job functions may be determined and required from time to time.
Job-related experience in the following areas is required for this position:
- 3-5 Years of Banking Experience
- Proficient using technology and possesses the ability to multi-task using a variety of computer programs.
- Proven successful Business Development and customer service sales skills.
Education:
(1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Equivalent job-related education and/or experience will be considered if the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the functions of the job are proven.
Preferred Experience, Education and/or Skills:
- Must be/become registered and licensed in the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) as required by the S.A.F.E. Act.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Merchant Services and treasury products and services.
- Solid understanding of the technology specific to treasury management.
