Job Description
We are excited to welcome a new bookkeeper who will work with our treasurers and Executive Director to ensure the fiscal needs of our synagogue. A successful candidate will be detail-oriented, pro-active, and organized. The work also entails dealing with issues requiring a high degree of discretion and tact. This role, reporting to the Executive Director, will be an important member of our office team to support our growing membership and professional staff.
This is an on-site, part-time position, 25 hours per week, in person 3-4 days per week with flexible hours.
Job Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Basic bookkeeping functions such as account payable & receivable and billing
Prepare bank deposits & process payments
Approve invoices, create payments/cut checks to vendors
Serve as point-person for Shulcloud reports
Oversee payroll process & reporting
Manage benefits administration
Reconcile month-end accounts
Work with accounting firm to prepare statements
Work with Treasurers to prepare annual budget
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
2-3 years of Accounts Payable, Account Receivable, or general accounting experience
knowledge of US GAAP
experience working in an office environment
knowledge of Quickbooks, MS Office, Google Suite
strong organizational & time management skills
positive attitude towards learning new skills and systems
experience working in a non-profit or religious institution preferred
experience with ShulCloud a plus
