Description
Autism Care Partners provides individualized therapy for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Billing Specialist will work closely with the Revenue Cycle Team to assure accurate and timely submissions of claims, follow-up with payors, and appealing denials. High attention to detail is needed for this position.
Must have the ability to work in the Manhattan office 3 days per work week.
Essential Functions
- Confirm insurance eligibility for clients
- Add new clients to billing system and maintain billing information for subscribers and payors
- Request authorization for medically necessary services for clients from payors
- Update authorization and subscriber data in billing system for all new and existing clients
- Submit insurance claims via billing system
- Follow up with payors to determine rejected or denied claims. Make appropriate corrections to claim and re-bill as needed
- Create and send out invoices to clients
- Communicate internally and externally with relevant parties regarding billing issues.
- Log incoming payments from insurance providers and clients and update internal records to reflect current balances.
- Make collection and follow up calls to payors according to aging status for outstanding claims and invoices
- Support the Billing Specialist as needed
- Support the Eligibility and Authorization Coordinator as needed

- This position operates in a typical office environment.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in clerical/office support work and/or education post-high school level in business, medical billing or related field preferred.
- CPC preferred
Additional Requirements
- Employees in this role are considered essential workers as part of the critical infrastructure.
- No prior criminal history.
- Experience with Central Reach preferred
- Ability to utilize technology
- Proficient computer skills-Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Windows, specifically Excel
- Ability to operate basic office equipment
