The Benefits Specialist is responsible for maintaining and updating employee benefits for all plans to include health, dental, vision, group life, disability, voluntary programs, flex spending and retirement programs. This position will provide stellar customer service to employees, dependents and retirees on a variety of health, welfare and retirement inquires. The Benefits Specialist will be a subject matter expert in all plan documents, and interface with various levels of personnel within the HR Department, General Accounting, Payroll and external insurance vendors. They will support processing enrollment/deduction data in the HRIS Benefit and Payroll system.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all benefits-related on-boarding and off-boarding tracking, processing, and auditing
- Partner with Payroll department to process benefit deductions and audit bi-weekly payroll
- Process bi-weekly retirement contributions changes, data files, and wire requests
- Conduct bi-weekly new hire benefits orientation
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and act as a liaison with benefit vendors
- Review and approve all benefit enrollment events, including new hire, qualified life events, and open enrollment change
- Process Tuition Remission applications, TR tax payroll files and 1099 requests. Coordinate workflow with Financial Aid, Registrar and Payroll
- Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and eligibility reports to ensure accurate with payroll deductions
- Organize and manage annual open enrollment process, communications and data files
- Partner with the Leave Specialist to support/organize leave requests
- Assist with planning and organizing all Wellness Program events
- Other Duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or other Business-related field strongly desired
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report
The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.
Florida Tech's 2023 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public properly within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.
The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.
The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs; related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.

Official Transcripts
Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Office of Human Resources prior to the first day of employment. All international degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES).
