Job Summary:
The Benefits Specialist will work in close partnership with the Benefits Manager and Total Rewards team to ensure timely regulatory compliance with benefit plans (401k), Workers Compensation, and general benefits administration.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serves as the primary contact for 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees related to enrollments, program details, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
- Assures compliance with governmental regulations; prepares reports, documents and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies; reviews and analyzes changes in state and federal laws pertaining to all retirement benefits and reports necessary or suggested changes to management.
- Performs technical analysis: creates, processes, monitors and reports transactions in the areas of finance, accounting, payroll, legal, actuarial, and data processing.
- Administers all aspects of Workers Compensation programs, including but not limited to initial claims intake, ensure compliance; reviews & balances contributions to state plans; payments to vendors and assists in annual audits and renewals with carriers.
- Files injury reports in accordance with state and federal requirements. Serves as point of contact for facilitation of treatment and employee inquiries.
- Monitors automated reporting system; assures completeness, accuracy, accessibility, and confidentiality of all records.
- Coordinates annual audits and plan reconciliation with carriers.
- Facilitates annual plan renewal; works closely with finance and legal to comply with regulatory requirements.
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
- Serves as a back-up for new-hire orientations, Health & Welfare administration, and Leave of Absence administration.
- Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
- Working knowledge of Workers Compensation.
- Extensive knowledge of retirement plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree, minimum of three years' experience, preferably in defined contribution plan administration and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
