Nixon & Lindstrom Insurance is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Client Relations Specialist who will provide exceptional customer service to our current and prospective clients. This position will also work closely with our carriers, other team members and our sales staff to ensure ongoing persistency in an assigned book of business along with servicing a book of individual insurance accounts.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively and courteously to clients, employees and carriers via telephone, email, or in person when required, regarding benefits, enrollment and service inquires.
  • Maintain and develop strong business relationships with existing and future clients to provide business retention and increased revenue growth.
  • Provide client training on enrollment procedures, including online application software, when utilized.
  • Maintain and update activity records and policy data in agency management system according to current processes and procedures.
  • Create a positive atmosphere by demonstrating enthusiasm, a spirit of teamwork and by maintaining high standards and confidentiality.
  • Interact daily with insurance carriers by phone, email or via their website to respond to the needs of existing and future clients.
  • Participate in industry meetings for the purpose of continuing education and increasing knowledge in the insurance field.
  • Manage the marketing process for group renewals and implementations such as requesting information from groups and their employees, submitting information to carriers, tracking and following up on pending requests.
  • Assist producers with marketing materials for employee open enrollment meetings and attend meetings as requested.
  • Provide service to a book of individual plan business both new and renewal.
  • Additional duties as requested by management.

Requirements/Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in health insurance, benefits administration, HR support or a related field with a working knowledge of insurance carrier products, contracts and their application to existing and future clients.
  • Missouri Health and Life Insurance license preferred or will be required within 90 days of hire.
  • Required computer skills include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and the ability to utilize an agency management database.

Medical insurance, basic life insurance and 401k provided subject to policy terms and waiting periods. Optional benefits include dental, vision, voluntary life, accident, critical illness, short term disability and long-term disability; subject to policy terms and waiting periods.

The work hours are 8:30 - 5:00 weekdays with no evenings or weekends.
