Under the supervision of the Sr. Mgr., Benefits or Supv., Benefits, the Benefits Specialist is a vital member of the People Services team and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Pacific Dental Services benefit programs. This position researches and resolves complex, non-routine problems, performs analysis and reconciliation of benefits-related data, and responds to request for information related to health insurance, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) and other benefits.
Responsibilities
- Research and respond to employee benefit inquiries, issues and escalations ensuring a prompt, equitable, compliant, and courteous resolution.
- Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in Workday to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
- Partner with our benefit vendors and third-party administrators for a seamless service delivery and resolution of issues and discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Payroll, Accounts Payable, and other departments related to the administration of our benefit programs.
- Run reports and conducts regular audits to ensure data integrity across platforms.
- Identify areas to streamline administrative practices, enhance services performed and automate processes to better scale with the organization's growth.
- Assists with benefits projects and design of new benefits plans, open enrollment and roll-out/communication to employees.
- Create SOPs to document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal local, state, and federal requirements related to day-to-day administration of benefits programs, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Other duties as assigned by company management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field, Human Resources Certificate, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In lieu of degree, +5 years of relevant work experience.
- 2+ years of human resources, benefits administration, and/or payroll experience.
Preferred
- Professional Certification (CEBS or CBP)
- Experience with benefits administration software and systems (Workday experience highly desirable).
- Preferred 4 years of experience in related field.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- A customer-centric approach, with the ability to provide excellent service to team members and assist with their benefits needs.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills to effectively explain benefits options.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and compliant benefit administration.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at one time under tight deadlines.
- Collaborative and able to work effectively with colleagues in People Services, as well as benefits providers and vendors.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to function within all levels of organization and at various locations.
- Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to think critically about how to optimize processes and programs.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding benefits, payroll and employee issues.
- Self-motivated, reliable individual capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Knowledge of HR, Benefits, and pay-related laws and regulations.
