Summary of position: CA Ventures looking for a self-starter to join our team as a Benefits Specialist to manage the corporate and senior living vertical benefits programs. You will be responsible for a variety of employee benefits and retirement programs and administration. Your role is vital to the overall employee engagement strategy for the company. In addition to a heavy focus in the benefits world, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Human Resources and Payroll teams, taking on additional HR Operations projects. You will be the “go to” for all things benefits and will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources on a highly collaborative and dynamic HR team. Key partners will include the Payroll Director, Human Resources team members, and HRIS Analyst.
Your Mission:
- Lead benefits administration, including medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD, life, and voluntary benefits
- Manage relationship with benefits broker and correspond with key benefits carriers, including BCBS of Illinois, United Healthcare, Unum, Wex, etc.
- Leads two open enrollment processes annually, one for CA Ventures, and the other for Anthology Senior Living; including involvement in plan renewal and executive approvals, employee communication strategy, OE configuration in Ceridian Dayforce, and file feed administration
- Administers two 401(k) plans, including contribution calculations, reconciliation, non-discrimination testing, and annual 401(k) audit; serves as a member of the 401(k) investment committee
- Maintain electronic benefit carrier feeds and liaise with carriers and Ceridian Dayforce team to resolve any fallouts
- Create benefits communications and presentations, including informational benefits articles for our company newsletter to increase employee awareness; conducts benefits annual enrollment and new hire orientations
- Process qualified life events and manual enrollments (outside of file feed enrollments)
- Audits and reconciles monthly enrollments and invoicing; runs annual OE enrollment and premium audits
- Provides training and carrier access to accounting teams
- Escalated point of contact for employee benefits questions
- Works closely with COBRA administrator and oversees/audits COBRA process and enrollments
- Identifies and proactively implements process improvements and efficiencies with a goal of increased compliance, time management, and customer experience
- Administers ACA compliance monthly utilizing Dayforce
- Advocate for benefits strategy and new benefits solutions that connects to company culture and for ultimate employee impact
- Support M&A activity from a benefits administration standpoint
- Support compliance and reporting requirements, including annual 1095s, annual notices, CMS compliance, non-discrimination testing, etc.
- Liaise with other departments or functions (payroll, HR, operations, etc.), as well as benefits brokers and carriers
- Complete other HR Operations and Benefits projects, as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a degree in human resource management, business or a related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of Benefits Administration experience
- Prior experience with Ceridian Dayforce HCM, preferred
- Experience working in a high volume, hourly and salary environment, preferred
- M&A experience, preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to create and deliver executive summaries and presentations
- Excellent understanding of benefits laws and trends, and ability to translate and apply those laws and trends throughout the organization
