The Role:
Under the direction of the Director of Social Services, the Benefit Entitlement Coordinator is responsible for helping participants obtain NYS Identification, determining eligibility for entitlement programs such as Access VR, OPWDD and Medicaid, and assisting with the application process for benefits and entitlements. Provide ACCES-VR orientation to groups and individuals applying for services.
Specific Requirements:
This is a full-time shift position scheduled M-F between the hours of 10am-6pm. Staff may be asked to adjust their work schedule depending on the operational needs of the site.
Primary Responsibilities:
- The Entitlements Coordinator monitors all client SSA, SSI,SSDI, SNAP, PASS WIPA and PA benefits so that certification requirements are addressed expeditiously, and benefits are consistently maintained
- Assess all intakes to determine that they have state issued ID and which benefits and entitlements they are eligible for
- Establish an action plan to obtain necessary documents and enroll participants inentitlement programs in Collaboration with ACCES-VR District Office
- Assist participants in the filing of claims for access to entitlements and benefits, including health insurance enrollment
- Ensures that program fee, or rental, disbursements are tracked in the residential programming, i.e., ISS apartment, and Supported programs
- Accompany participants to various government offices to obtain necessary paperwork;
- track participants’ applications for benefits and entitlements and upcoming appointments;
- Remain abreast of the current applicable rules and regulations for benefit enrollment
- Participate in ACCES-VR and OPWDD related trainings
- The Entitlements Coordinator will have responsibility for developing and maintainingrelationships with the Human Resources Administration, and Social Security Administration, to best provide for our clients
- Maintain accurate case notes on each participant’s needs and progress; and participate in case conferencing as required
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required by the immediate supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of (2) years’ experience in a health-related field or commensurate experience in Managed Care with a concentration in Medicaid/Medicare eligibility, preferably with the geriatric population
- Familiarity with Medicaid/Medicare concepts, procedures, and enrollment practices, preferred
- Bilingual (English, Spanish) a plus
- Flexibility to work some evenings and occasional weekends as necessary.
- Exceptional demonstrated writing proficiency.
- Preferred experience in assessment, direct practice, counseling, supervision, community outreach, group leadership, and program development.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to balance compassion and firmness while respecting the unique experiences of asylum seekers.
- Proficiency in navigating asylum-specific community resources and understanding the complexities of the asylum process.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, decision-making skills, conflict resolution expertise, and active listening.
- Capacity to remain composed in crisis situations.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
- Proven capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and efficiency.

- Develop and manage a year round activities program for clients.
- Participate in events alongside staff and clients.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior training experience in the CARES database is helpful.
- Knowledge of MS Suite, Google Suite, and other database programs.

Pay: $47,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
