We believe in building students academic knowledge and skills, challenging them to create high-quality work, while teaching them character skills for life. Our EL curriculum encompasses brick-and-mortar teaching, while taking to the outdoors for fieldwork to connect with our local community. Teachers work with students, staff, and families to create, implement, and celebrate the learning happening throughout the year. Job Description
City View Charter School has our own Before and After-School Program which currently serves kindergarten through 4th grade students and follows our school calendar. The coordinator implements City View’s vision, mission and expectations that are demonstrated in our school-day operations into the after-school care program.
This position is a full-time position for an average 40 hours per week. The job responsibilities are split between an instructional aide position and coordinating the afterSchool Program.
Hours are M-Th: 10am-2pm as an instructional aide, 2:30-6:30pm as the coordinator for our afterSchool Program. Friday hours are 10am-12pm as an instructional aide, 12:30-6:30pm as the coordinator.
The After-school Coordinator oversees the scheduling and training of staff members, organization and management of the billing of the program, as well as ensuring a safe and enriching environment for students during the afte-rSchool Program.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Commitment to learning and teaching through the EL Education instructional model
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with elementary-aged students
- Experience working in a Before/AfterSchool Program or similar program
- Maintaining CPR & First Aid certification is required
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in the use of computer and internet based applications, including but not limited to email, billing software and systems applications
Preferred:
- Experience with supervising and directing other staff members
- Knowledge of early childhood education and development
- Classroom Management skill set
- Experience working with diverse and inclusive settings
- Organization of materials and activities
Responsibilities of Afterschool Coordinator include:
- Evidence of an understanding of the school culture and environment, and a commitment to carrying out the vision, mission and belief statements of City View Charter School
- Supervise and guide staff members during program
- Organize and manage the billing of families for the program
- Work with the curriculum and coordinating the activities of the program
- Supervise student behavior in a developmentally appropriate manner to address issues related to student respect, responsibility and safety
- Clear communication with parents, teachers, administration and other school staff to ensure collaboration and consistency
- Familiarity with all City View safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Working with other staff members to ensure safety of students at all times
- Supervising and supporting students with homework of various subjects
- Working with students to resolve peer conflicts
Other Professional Responsibilities:
- Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, and school operations
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Follow all City View protocols for reporting absences
- Follow all City View policies and work procedures
- Participate in required meetings and trainings related to the position
- Demonstrate professionalism when working and communicating verbally and nonverbally with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds
- Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment
Time Commitment and Compensation:
Full-time (avg. 40 hours per week)
M-Th from 10:00-2:00pm, 2:30-6:30pm
Fridays 10:00am-12:00pm, 12:30-6:30pm
Pay range $18- $25 per hour worked, based on experience
