We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our team as Director of our School District Consulting program. The Director of School Consultation is responsible for supervision of the BCBAs, PLBAs and RBTs that provide services to School Districts in our School Consultation Department. The Director of School Consultation oversees the School Consultation services provided, collaborates with current School District client representatives and communicates with potential new School District clients.

This is a full time position with all day time hours that is a combination of working from home (about 50% of the time) and working in School District buildings to supervise BCBAs (about 50% of the time). The Director of School District consulting must be able to drive to schools in the St. Louis County, St. Charles County and surrounding areas. The travel area boundaries are Lincoln County (North), St. Louis County (East), Fulton (West) and Rolla (South). Paid mileage stipend.

Job Responsibilities:

The following is a summary of job responsibilities that are included for the Director of School Consultation position. These statements may not describe the entire job, but are intended to describe the general nature, essential functions, and level of qualifications and skills required for the position.

  • Supervise all staff providing school consultation, including Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Provisionally Licensed Behavior Analysts (PLBAs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs)
  • Communicate regularly with School District administrators
  • Review functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans
  • Oversee and implement new district intake process
  • Oversee and implement process of assigning clients to BCBAs/PLBAs/RBTs
  • Attend meetings (including but not limited to IEP, eligibility determination, manifestation, team, school and evaluation meetings) as needed
  • Develop and manage trainings and professional development for new and ongoing BCBAs/PLBAs/RBTs in collaboration with Co-Owner and Director of HR
  • Develop and present individual, small group and large group trainings to School District staff as needed
  • Manage budget for School District Consulting
  • Meet regularly (at least monthly) with BCBAs/PLBAs/RBTs
  • Train new BCBAs/PLBAs/RBTs
  • Monitors program outcomes including quality assurance and improvement strategies
  • Ensures certification and renewal requirements are maintained for BCBAs/PLBAs/RBTs
  • Provides BACB compliant fieldwork/practicum supervision as needed to graduate students, PLBAs, RBTs, and BCBAs
  • Organize and manage cloud storage of programs, materials, datasheets and other documents used for school consultation
  • Assist with data collection, analysis and interpretation
  • Communicate with client families and caregivers as needed
  • Assist with collaboration between school and home team members
  • Responsible for staying abreast of the ABA and academic best practices for students with special education needs
  • Act as an ambassador and markets the services ABS provides to School Districts and establishes relationships with regional School Districts
  • Monitor and evaluate the services provided by BCBAs/PLBAs/RBTs and works with them to make any changes necessary to provide effective and best practice ABA services to School Districts
  • Assist with recruitment process for new staff
  • Provide reporting and statistical data as required
  • Work directly with the other program areas as needed
  • Attend meetings that impact upon program areas as needed
  • Assist with ABA consultation coverage in the schools as needed
  • Participate in intake meetings with prospective districts
  • Attend all required company meetings and trainings
  • Maintain certification and licensure
  • Participate on continuing education as required for certification maintenance
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Provide ongoing training and support to BCBAs/PLBAs/RBTs
  • Demonstrate understanding of the services, individual needs, and goals for clients
  • Demonstrate understanding of all IEP processes, including but not limited to the IEP process, re-evaluation/evaluation process, diagnostic evaluations, manifestation meetings, behavior intervention meetings
  • Conduct performance reviews for BCBAs/PLBAs/RBTs
  • Communicate regularly with BCBAs/PLBAs/RBTs, company owners and administration, School District staff and other team members
  • Communicate with MO Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) as needed and remain current on knowledge of all guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance with all DESE guidelines and requirements
  • Attend all administrative meetings
  • Meet regularly (at least monthly) with co-owner
  • Is receptive to feedback and constructive criticism to improve skills, implements and demonstrates follow-through of recommendations given by supervisor
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure client safety and confidentiality
  • Follow ethical and professional guidelines as prescribed by supervisors, Missouri Behavior Analyst Advisory Board and BACB Guidelines for Responsible Conduct
  • Follow supervisory chain of command
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

These requirements are also designed to be in compliance with the 2022 BCBA Fieldwork Requirements and Consulting Supervisor Requirements for new BCBAs (updated in 2023) published by the BACB.

Applicants must be board certified and licensed behavior analysts that are approved to provide graduate student supervision. Applicants must be a BCBA in good standing who has been certified as a BCBA for 3 years or more. Applicants must have extensive experience providing supervision to graduate students, strong knowledge of the IEP process, and a strong knowledge of all BACB supervision requirements and guidelines as well as the ethical code of conduct. Experience with conducting a variety of functional assessments, developing behavior plans, collecting, graphing, analyzing, displaying and discussing data-based progress is a must.

Education and/or Experience:

· Minimum 3 years’ (preferably 5 years) of certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

· National Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

· Licensure as a Behavior Analyst in the state of Missouri (or meets the eligibility criteria for licensure)

· Meets all supervision requirements of the BACB and have notation of meeting these requirements on their BACB certificant profile

· Master's degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education or a related field. Strong consideration is given to candidates with degrees from ABA accredited programs.

· Extensive experience conducting a variety of functional behavior assessments and developing and implementing behavior intervention plans in school settings

· Extensive experience with the IEP process

· Demonstrated ability to develop short- and long-range plans to improve student achievement

· Experience with a variety of ABA based and academic assessments

· Working knowledge of 365 & Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn new or updated software.

· Outstanding managerial and leadership skills.

· Thorough understanding of IEP and related processes

· Thorough understanding of best practices related to special education and Applied Behavior Analysis.

· Thorough understanding of laws and regulations related to special education.

· Thorough understanding of all BACB guidelines and requirements including but not limited to ethical standards and supervision requirements.

Therapeutic Skills:

· Strong knowledge of the principles and practice of Applied Behavior Analysis.

· Strong knowledge of the behavioral, cognitive, educational, vocational and social challenges encountered by persons with developmental disabilities.

· Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks/goals for self and others.

· Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work effectively with various technology including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, tablet apps.

· Extensive experience in working with people with developmental disabilities

· Strong leadership skills

· Supervisory and performance evaluation experience

o Clients with whom the behavior analyst will work may engage in frequent, intense, and/or sustained challenging behaviors of concern. These may include but are not limited to aggression towards themselves or others, property destruction, loud inappropriate vocals (cursing, screaming, crying, etc.), noncompliance, and running off/leaving the area. The behavior line therapist/registered behavior technician must be able to consistently implement each client’s individual behavior plan/guidelines and crisis plan as directed in these situations. The Director of School Consultation must also be able to quickly discern when to block, move away from the client, use personal protective equipment and implement other crisis intervention strategies including but not limited to approved physical restraint and transport procedures, as well as instruct and coach other staff through the correct use of these processes.

· The employee at any time needs to be able to lift, stoop, squat, kneel and move up to 25 pounds independently or a child’s weight with assistance as appropriate.

· The employee at any time needs to be able to implement physical and nonphysical crisis intervention procedures according to company-specific crisis intervention training.

Work Hazards:

· Clients may engage in challenging behaviors which may pose a risk of injury to staff. Behaviors may include but are not limited to physical aggression, property destruction/throwing items, and challenging behaviors involving bodily fluids. The Director of School Consultation will be required to utilize personal protective equipment as directed to minimize risk of injury.

· Exposure to bodily fluids (i.e., during assistance and teaching self-care and toileting skills, administering first aid if needed).
