The Company: Prime Auto USA is an independent used car dealership located in Jackson, TN with a full sales team, finance team, client success team and service team with a total of just under 50 employees and selling just under 100 cars per month. We provide automotive reconditioning to cars that are being prepared to sell including an 80 point inspection as well as on-going repairs for our free 6 month 6,000 mile limited warranty and customer pay work. Job Description:
A Service Technician IV is someone that has demonstrated proficiency in all requirements for a Service Technician Trainee and Service Technician I, II, & III independently. In addition, they will demonstrate *proficiency in the following areas:
- Successfully obtain & maintain required ASE certification required for Master Technician.
- Successfully train and/or assist with diagnostic for other technicians.
- Ability to complete work well below book time.
*Proficiency means capability to properly, accurately and timely diagnose and repair independently based on industry standards.
Duties: The Service Technician IV is responsible to receive a queue of cars to diagnose, work, order parts through the parts team and repair cars/trucks/SUVs to either go to the front line, send to auction or complete work for retail customer.
It is typical for the Service Technician IV to complete the following work daily:
- Login to Paychex and Rapid Recon to report time worked and what work is completed.
- For the lot cars - diagnose using the electronic 80 point inspection form. VERIFY THE GPS WORKS EVERY TIME.
- For the customer cars - diagnose based on the issues the customer describes and items that, if not corrected, could result in a major malfunction or damage to major components of the vehicle. VERIFY THE GPS WORKS EVERY TIME.
- For auction cars – to specifically address the items required to send to auction that will result in our best return. REMOVE THE GPS PRIOR TO SENDING TO AUCTION TO REUSE IT.
- Order parts by taking before photos of items that need to be repaired, adding appropriate work orders in Rapid Recon and placing in the Parts Estimate queue. Follow up with the parts team as needed to ensure you receive parts timely.
- Repair vehicles based on the initial diagnostic. If additional deficiencies that need to be repaired are identified during the repair, notify the foreman to get approval.
- Rework cars that are used for loaners or cars that were on the front line that manifest deficiencies that must be repaired prior to sale as assigned.
Expected Results:
- The activities listed above are to result in:
- The team achieving a minimum of 1.2 to 1.5 cars produced per technician per day, as an average.
- Individually completing work within a reasonable time frame based on industry averages.
- Completing work in a quality manner such that cars are not found to have deficiencies prior to selling or shortly after selling that should have been found in the diagnosis and subsequently repaired prior to sale or at the time work is completed for a customer.
- As a team, ensuring that customers receive their cars back within no more than 7 days or 5 working days.

Minimum Requirements for Employment:
- Demonstrated abilities utilizing technology the company utilizes accurately, timely and consistently and ability to recommend others that better meet our needs.
- A minimum of 10 years shop experience with demonstrated proficiency in Service Technician Trainee and Service Technician I, II, & III.
- Keep up to date with new technology and requirements for new vehicle manufacturing.
- Experience with leadership roles is a big plus.
