Position Overview:
Build and master the skills necessary to become a successful Project Manager in the electrical contracting industry as a part of IB Abel! The Associate Project Manager position is an introductory role organized into three stages designed to prepare you for a successful project management career. In this role, you will develop a wide range of related professional experience via on-the-job exposure and a series of formalized, targeted training courses.
In this program, you will resolve inefficiencies on crucial profit-driving projects, drive results, collaborate with union professionals, and build customer relationships that will propel you into your long-term career. We are looking for a professional who is thorough, precise, and a true team player. Enjoy less red tape and more room to act, following a Project Delivery Process that is simple, straightforward, and efficient.
Location & Travel:
- This is a hybrid position; you can periodically work from home. Job requires regular travel to local project sites and office locations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist and coordinate all project set up, project needs, and Field labor needs to ensure the timely and profitable completion of quality projects.
- Assist with day-to-day customer interaction.
- Visit project sites as the Project Manager directs to review problems, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and safety and quality.
- Draft, submit, and distribute subcontracts, submittals, and RFI's.
- Assist with the material, equipment, and tool procurement process and inventorying. Oversee upkeep of dumpsters, trailers, and other project-specific yard rentals.
- Oversee and administer project-specific document control via SharePoint, Viewpoint, etc.
- Assist with the final project closeout.
Qualifications:
Required:
- An acceptable combination of education and/or work experience within the utility industry.
- Proficient in MS Office applications with strong skills in Excel, Word, and MS Project.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Other:
- Must be able to present acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorizations per the Federal I-9 requirement.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Desired:
- An advanced degree in Business, Construction Management, or other related business discipline-focused degree program from a two or four-year college, university, or technical school.
- Project Management Certification.
