Job Title: Assistant Research Engineer CPB Job Summary:

Chemical, Paper and Biomedical Engineering (CPB): Assistant Research Scientist/Engineer, who has potential for developing interdisciplinary research by closely collaborating with Miami faculty members working in biomedical engineering and biotechnology. This includes planning and conducting research and analyzing and interpreting experimental or computational results in the area of biomedical engineering and biotechnology. The Assistant Research Scientist/Engineer will also be involved in disseminating results from their research. Assistant Research Scientist/Engineers are expected to develop a sustainable, funded research program as a PI or Co-PI. This is a full-time, twelve-month assignment. Remote work is a working arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason.

Duties/Physical Demands:

Assistant Research Scientist's/Engineer's primary responsibilities to engage in, be responsible for, or oversee a significant area of research or scholarship in a manner that advances the mission of the university in a significant way. Duties will include: conducting research in biomedical engineering and biotechnology in collaboration with Miami University faculty; disseminating research results through peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, and conference presentations; mentoring and directing graduate and undergraduate researchers; teaching one course per semester focused on research support; supporting the research through external funding after an initial appointment of 12 months.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: PhD or DS in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related field.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with demonstrated record of developing independent research projects and experience in proposal development; demonstrated expertise and performance in conducting high quality, impactful research; experience working on funded research projects and familiarity with funding process and reporting requirements associated with funded projects; demonstrated ability as an independent thinker capable of taking projects from ideas to reality; ability to develop proposals as a PI or Co-PI.
