Job Description
Position Purpose:
The Assistant Project Manager contributes to projects by assisting the PM in the daily hands-on oversight of design and technical teams. Assists PM with planning, monitoring, and management of internal projects from initiation through completion. Has frequent client team interaction. Ensures on-time completion of projects according to client specifications and within budgeted costs.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Monitors daily work required to drive results and progress on assigned projects. Coordinates with team members on project work planning and scheduling to ensure project results meet Company and client standards for technical quality, reliability, and delivery schedules.
- Establishes good working relationships with new and existing clients. Develops new project opportunities by networking throughout the industry with peer companies and thought leaders.
- Works closely with internal/external technical staff and resources to ensure that project specifications are in line with existing and updated plans.
- Assists PM in ensuring that assigned personnel are trained and prepared to complete the design, technical and administrative requirements of projects. Conducts skill assessments before and after projects completion, identifying project team members that may need additional training and development.
- Assists with the invoicing process for related projects to learn the process and ensure timely delivery of bills to clients and the collection of outstanding invoices.
- Ensures that client Safety requirements and training are in place before visiting work sites. Trains and mentor’s staff on specific client Safety rules for work on their sites.
- Provides 360 input on performance evaluations for project team members and assists Regional Director with the sourcing and interview process for new staffing initiatives as needed.
- Trains and mentors Interns, designers, and technical staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or applicable degree program
Related Experience
5-8 years of experience
Special Competencies or Certifications:
Ability to:
- Understand the technical aspects of the project life cycle to drive results, meet client expectations and modify project plans as needed.
- Identify and apply functional knowledge to resolve problems regarding project and staff.
- Establish good relationships with clients and all team members.
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and presentation level.

Certificates, License, Registrations:
Licensure preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
Most duties are performed in a climate-controlled, smoke-free office environment. However, on occasion Assistant Project Manager may be required to visit construction sites to check on progress of project. This may include exposure to heat and/or cold as well as wet or humid weather conditions.
