Assistant Project Estimator 

J&L Construction, LLC is a small business specializing in heavy civil utilities construction in Denton, TX. We want to extend our team and for a full-time Assistant Project Estimator. Position Summary  

This position will work closely with the Project Estimator to analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare estimates for projects or services. In addition, the Assistant Project Estimator will assist the estimator and Project Manager in searching and bidding for new construction projects, project take-offs and other office needs.  

Functions and Responsibilities 

·         Assisting in searching for new construction projects through various software platforms. 

·         Read and understand contracts to ensure proper estimates and search for the latest industry technology.  

·         Assist with preparing estimates for management purposes such as planning, organizing, preparing bids, selecting vendors, and determining cost-effectiveness. 

·         Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and estimates for municipalities and commercial projects. 

·         Prepare the necessary material take-offs by quantities and type for proper pricing. 

·         Attend meetings with key personnel and maintain effective communication throughout projects.  

·         Attend project sites and coordinate with the Superintendent to ensure safety, quality control, and schedule. 

Qualifications and Skill Requirements 

·         Ability to perform in a team environment with excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

·         Strong organizational and multitasking skills 

·         To be responsible, dependable, punctual, and attentive to quality and details 

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines 

·         Proficient in the use of computers 

·         Proficient with Excel 

·         Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is a plus
