Pay and Benefits
Full-Time Salaried Position paying $45k to $52k per year with excellent benefits.
This Position:
The Title and Salary Level of this position will be commensurate with experience level and role assignment(s) of the selected candidate. Also, this position requires that the candidate be located in Chemung County, NY (or within reasonable driving distance to the company headquarters in Elmira Heights, NY), and that they be in the office on a daily basis. Normal working hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
Generally, the Assistant Project Coordinator is responsible for assisting Project Managers/Estimators/Project Coordinators in coordinating and supporting the activities of a project to ensure costs, schedules, document control and quality standards are met.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, multi-tasker, very detail-oriented individual, having 3-5 years of general office administration experience. An associate’s degree in a business discipline or a related discipline would be preferred. Any related experience in construction administration would be a plus.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist Project Managers, Estimators and Project Coordinators in all phases and aspects of project support.
- Procurement (Purchasing) of major electrical materials
- Track materials after purchase
- Call vendors and clearly communicate milestone dates of delivered items in order to meet project schedules
- Generation and submission of electric submittals for engineering approval
- Releasing approved submittal materials for manufacturing and delivery
- Expediting materials to insure timely deliveries.
- Provide support to field staff
- Follow Company Best Practices
- Execute all project support tasks as assigned
- Support PM in Organization of Weekly Project Status/Action Meetings
- Review Project Invoices and Track Against Project Budgets
- Communicate Effectively with all project Stakeholders, Teams and Customers
- Coordinate and facilitate submitting electrical permit applications in various geographical locations.
- Answering phones and scheduling service calls when needed

Prerequisites:
This position requires an associate's degree or equivalent work experience in business or related field, with at least one year of experience in a similar or related role. Knowledge of construction administration would be preferred. Candidate must have advanced skills in MS Word and MS Excel, and have the ability to quickly adapt to additional computer, communications and networking technologies that may be required. Additionally, John Mills Electric, Inc. requires drug, alcohol, criminal and financial background checks.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines.
Working Conditions:
Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typical of most office environments. Extended normal work hours and weekend hours may be necessary from time to time.
