Position Description

The School of Art Art History Design at the University of Washington welcomes applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Interdisciplinary Visual Art to start in September 2024. This position is 100% full-time and has a nine-month service period. The IVA program emphasizes research-based art production with a focus on exploring innovative connections between disciplines. This position will engage in expansive art practice and research that brings together multiple forms of knowledge, both within and beyond the field of Art. The successful candidate will be active in their field, build a significant record of professional achievement, and contribute to creating and supporting new perspectives on art practice and pedagogy. Faculty members in Art demonstrate a commitment to public higher education and support the teaching and mentoring of a student population that is diverse in backgrounds, experiences, social identities, capabilities, and perspectives.

The candidate will be expected to teach at all levels of the undergraduate IVA program and aid in the development of a cross-disciplinary curriculum that reflects the research interests of faculty and shifting dialogues in contemporary art. Participation with the graduate art program is expected.

Salary Range: Washington State Law requires that this ad list a binding salary range. The base salary range for this position will be $8,667 - $10,000 per month on a 9-month basis ($78,000 - $90,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a minimum of a Master's degree or foreign equivalent. Candidates will evidence a strong professional record of creative research and teaching expertise.
