Position Details

Position Description

The Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (AID) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position. This position will be at the Assistant Professor level, without tenure for reasons of funding (WOT), and will have clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities. Assistant professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This position is anticipated to start in September 2024.

The successful candidate will develop an independent research program with active publication in peer-reviewed journals, obtain and maintain research funding through grants and contracts, and provide mentorship. They will complete ongoing independent research on how changes in vaginal microbiota and cervico-vaginal inflammation influence adverse reproductive health outcomes. This position will include both outpatient and inpatient care at the Virology Clinic at Roosevelt Clinic, the Primary Immune Deficiency Clinic at UWMC, ID consults service at UWMC and Harborview and on the General Internal Medicine Service at Harborview Medical Center. The duties of this position include publishing in the field of Infectious Diseases and mentoring fellows and other trainees. The successful candidate will lead clinical instruction (whilst seeing patients) of medical students, residents and fellows. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The base salary range for this position will be: $15,448 - $16,987 per month ($185,376 - $203,844 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), be board eligible/board certified in Infectious Diseases (or foreign equivalent) and either possess or be eligible for medical licensure in Washington State. Successful candidates must demonstrate clinical expertise in the care of infectious disease patients. Additionally, they must demonstrate scholarly research related to HIV and STIs. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
