Position Title:Assistant Director of Government, Foundation, and Corporate Relations
Department: Government, Foundation, and Corporate Relations (GFCR)
Reports To: Director of Government, Foundation, and Corporate Relations
Classification: Exempt FTE: 1.0 Salary: $54,000 - $61,000
Essential Job Duties:
1. Empower St. Olaf faculty and staff to pursue external funding that advances their own scholarship and artistry, and furthers College initiatives
● Collaborate closely with faculty and staff to organize, develop, write, edit, budget, and submit compelling funding proposals.
● Work hand-in-hand with faculty and staff to ensure proposals are accurate, well-structured, well-written, complete, and comply with both funder guidelines and St. Olaf policies.
● Collaborate closely with other team members to provide reliable support and successfully manage large projects.
● Efficiently submit grant proposals via various funder portals (grants.gov, research.gov, NIH eRA Commons, eGMS Reach, Fluxx, etc.) and promptly address any submission challenges in a timely way.
2. Establish and maintain robust, productive relationships with external funders
● Engage with program officers to gain insights about emerging programs and seek clarification on funder guidelines or policies while keeping abreast of funding trends, including recent awards and emerging funding programs
● Maintain full compliance with legal policies and professional practices governing external grant awards for the College.
3. Actively contribute to the smooth functioning of operations and successfully execute special projects
● Meticulously maintain and optimize GFCR systems, including calendars, databases, grant alerts, reports, and website, ensuring accuracy and high functionality.
● Deliver comprehensive, regular reports to the GFCR Director, Provost and Dean of the College, and other stakeholders.
● Actively participate in key consortiums/professional organizations, promoting collaboration and shared goals.
● Demonstrate leadership and ownership in driving special projects to successful outcomes.
4. Other Duties
● Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
● Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Term: Year-round
Shift: The standard 40-hour work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; flexible work arrangements can be proposed and are subject to approval by HR and relevant supervisors; occasional evening or weekend work as need required; travel up to 10% of the work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area).
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree; maintain a valid driver’s license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record
Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience from the nonprofit or higher education environments
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree
Experience: Direct experience in grant seeking and/or work experience at a selective liberal arts college
Prerequisites:
Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.
