Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE
This position, under general supervision, will greet, seat, and present clean menus to guests in a friendly, professional, and quick manner. Schedule dining reservations via phone in a professional manner.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be 16 years or older and have a service oriented personality and be able to communicate in English and understand information using verbal, written, and listening skills. Must be able to provide efficient and courteous service while anticipating individual guest needs and fulfilling those needs with visible enthusiasm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Arrive for scheduled work shifts on time, in a positive state of mind, while meeting dress code and grooming standards for a professional appearance.
- Graciously greet guests with a smile upon arrival, escort them to their table, provide clean menus to them once seated, and inform guests of their assigned server.
- Answer incoming phone calls and schedule dining reservations, accepting same over the phone as well as in person, and clearly enter reservation name, contact phone number and the number in their party in the reservation book.
- Retrieve messages left on voicemail systems and return their calls to answer questions and complete reservations.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the entire facility in order to invite guests to participate in other areas of the facility as well as the restaurant.
- Manage special seating requests of guests consistent with table availability.
- Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
- Follow the Wheaton Park District and Arrowhead policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Proactively support the V.A.L.U.E.S. (integrity, fun, commitment, adaptability and growth, kindness, and service) on a daily basis.
- Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC.
Must have and maintain: valid Illinois Food Handler’s Certificate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to: continuously move about the facility or remain in a stationary position for long periods of time with the ability to grasp and good eye/hand coordination; occasionally position one’s self to reach items below waist or over shoulders and move items, such as menus weighing up to 5 lbs.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to: continuously work in a restaurant environment with noise; and rarely walk on wet, slippery surfaces, and rarely loud music.
SALARY
$14/hour
HOURS
12-20 hours per week - Hours vary between 10a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Days during the school year, evenings, weekends and holidays year round.
