Position Summary
The Pro Shop Cashier is responsible for assisting the Head Golf Professional and the Director of Golf Operations with the effective and efficient daily operation of the Pro Shop and Golf Course.
Hours of Work
Hours of work are based on the operational needs of the Salt Creel Golf Club and include a variety of weekday, weekend and holiday shifts with a combination of daytime, afternoon and evening hours, Dependability and flexibility in availability is required.
Essential Job Functions
- Greets, acknowledges and handles customer interactions and answers questions in a professional manner.
- Uses GolfNow Reservations and POS system for a variety of Pro Shop transactions
- Answers the telephone and communicates information accurately and professionally
- Coordinates daily activities with Outside Services staff
- Manages the golf cart key distribution/deposit return
- Installs and removes practice putting green flags
- Updates the sales merchandise inventory
- Maintains the overall appearance of the Pro Shop merchandise and displays
- Promotes the sale of merchandise to customers, making suggestions for possible purchases or up-selling
- Secures and unlocks exterior and interior doors
- Performs light cleaning including cleaning windows and vacuuming the floor
- Adheres to accurate and secure cash handling procedures
- Properly handles all Golf Course and Clubhouse communications
- Properly manages golf cart rental procedures.
- Promotes restaurant and special events
- Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by the Head Golf Professional or other management personnel.
- Works as a team member and follows the directives of the Head Banquet Server
- Attends work on a regular basis
- Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and
- the Employee Personnel Policy Manual
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment
Other Job Functions
- Maintains a positive interaction and cooperation with Park District staff, the public and Facility patrons.
- Communicates with Head Golf Professional and Outside Services staff throughout the day
- Performs the job in compliance with Park District policies.
Requirements of Work
- A minimum age of 16 is required for this position
- High School student, High School graduate or G.E.D. Certificate
- One to two years experience in a customer service or retail setting is preferred
- Basic computer skills
Necessary Special Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification required within one month of hire
Knowledge Of
- Basic knowledge of the game of golf
- Principles and standards of customer service
- GolfNow and/or Point of Sales systems preferred
Ability To
- Provide a high level of customer service to all guests in a friendly, courteous manner
- Operate a computer and use the GolfNow and Point of Sale systems
- Accurately handle and account for all payments including cash, credit cards and debit cards
- Perform basic math computations
- Respond to inquiries and requests from the general public
- Follow directions and communicate in English verbally and in writing
- Work flexible schedules and shifts, as assigned
- Follow the directives of the Head Golf Professional and the Manager on Duty
- Manage work time effectively and efficiently
- Maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations

Working Conditions
- Hand-eye coordination is needed to handle food and beverage items, trays, dishes, etc.
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, carry, see, hear, and smell
- Must regularly lift, move and/or carry items weighing up to 35 pounds
- Frequent exposure to cleaning materials
- Exposure to chronic infectious diseases while performing routine first aid or emergency procedures
- Protective clothing and equipment are required as it pertains to the particular job duty:
- CPR Microshield
- Non-latex gloves
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Most work tasks are performed indoors in a Pro Shop setting with fluorescent lighting and controlled temperature.
