The Animal Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Promoting the dogs and cats awaiting adoption, as well as the organization in general
- Ensuring the right home for each animal by considering each animal's specific needs, each adopter's specific preferences, and the shelter's adoption protocols
- Finding homes, rescues, or sanctuaries for hard to place animals
- Training volunteers how to safely engage with the dogs and cats in a shelter environment
- Being the liaison between the organization and the community we serve by greeting guests who come to the shelter in a friendly, welcoming manner; responding to inquiries, concerns, and comments through phone calls, emails, posts, etc.; and promoting our adoptable animals at the shelter, at community events, online, and in printed materials
- Post adoption follow up on each animal to ensure a successful match or provide adopter's with additional resources as needed
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and execute marketing materials and campaigns
- Assist in the development of new programs and initiatives to address community needs
The ideal candidate for this position must be professional, friendly, positive and upbeat, self motivated, and a team player. He or she would possess strong customer service skills; expertise in marketing and public relations; the ability to create attractive flyers, advertisements, and newsletters; experience with event planning, various social media outlets, website building, and mass email distributions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field
- Proven experience in outreach coordination or a similar role
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse populations
- Knowledge of program development principles and practices
