Job description

Are you searching for a dynamic career path which involves performing Civil Rights Outreach coordination? The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) promotes equal opportunity for all and enforces Pennsylvania's Civil Rights laws that protect people from unlawful discrimination. We are seeking a Human Relations Representative 2 to take on the role of Civil Rights Outreach Coordinator. As Pennsylvania's Civil Rights leader, it is our vision that all people in Pennsylvania will live, work, and learn free from unlawful discrimination. This position serves as the agency's primary contact on equity and Civil Rights topics, including non-discrimination policies and procedures. Coordinators should be proactive in providing guidance to teams on how to promote equity and avoid discriminatory practices. Don't miss this extraordinary opportunity, apply with us today!
As a Civil Rights Outreach Coordinator (CROC), you will serve as a "Beloved Community Peacemaker" for communities facing conflict based on actual or perceived race, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or disability. CROCs work toward the mission of the PHRC by providing facilitated dialogue, mediation, training, and consultation to assist communities in coming together, to develop community based and evidenced based solutions to the presenting conflict and enhance the community's capacity to independently prevent and resolve future conflicts.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide complex facilitation, mediation, and conciliation services for communities facing conflicts and tensions related to race, color, or nationality, pursuant to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related to race, color, nationality, LGBTQ+ status, gender, disability status, or religion, pursuant to the Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009.
This position will provide training and consultation services to public officials and community representatives that provide them with the skills and mechanisms necessary to prevent and resolve future tensions. You will lead regional projects or initiatives, as assigned by leadership to improve CROC's visibility, ability to deliver services, and ability to anticipate and prevent conflict in jurisdictional communities.
Within this role, you will develop and implement comprehensive outreach plans for each county/location assigned to you that target all jurisdictional communities in conjunction with the PHRC Advisory Councils and the PHRC Social Justice Ambassadors Program. In addition, you will serve as a mentor to staff by modeling professional behavior and provide advice regarding mediation, facilitation, conflict resolution practices and procedures, and identify areas needed for improvement.
