Analyst, Sustainability

Overview

We integrate sustainability into our portfolio construction, acquisitions, and asset management activities to maximize value for our clients.
This analyst will report to the Head of Sustainability for the Americas region. The selected analyst work directly on the Americas Sustainability team to implement portfolio-wide and asset-level Sustainability initiatives, including multifamily, industrial, retail & office properties in the US and Canada. The location for this role is open within the United States, but hybrid in our preferred locations of our Chicago, IL, Baltimore, MD, and New York City, NY offices.
Accountabilities

• Property-level Activities. Support efforts to implement sustainability and social activities and achieve certifications at properties. Provide overall program management, including conducting property-level kick offs, compiling available documentation, following-up with properties, and generally coordinating stakeholders and keeping the projects on track - for efforts including:
  • Installation of EV chargers across all asset classes
  • Certifications including Energy Star, LEED, BREEAM, and WELL Health-Safety
  • Social activities such as blood drives, healthy vending, fitness events, food drives, murals, community gardens, etc.
  • Pilot activities such as electric kitchens and water saving technologies.
• Data and Reporting. Manage data collection, cleansing and reporting of property-level sustainability performance and activities to ensure accurate, best-in-class data quality. Work with Property Managers and LaSalle's external consulting team to:
  • Ensure property profiles in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager are set up correctly, including automatic utility feeds where available.
  • Conduct detailed review of data to identify errors and outliers.
  • Oversee compliance with local sustainability regulations, including flagging upcoming ordinances, assessing potential fines, and supporting compliance tracking.
  • Complete data reporting to stakeholders, including LaSalle staff; frameworks such as GRESB, TCFD, SFDR, NZAMI and Better Buildings Challenge; as well as investor requests.
• Presentations. Develop presentation materials including quarterly fund reports, internal trainings, investor meeting decks, conference presentations, property manager webinars, etc. Respond to Investor Requests and questionnaires about LaSalle's Sustainability activities.
• Contracting & Admin. Coordinate with consultants to obtain pricing and complete contracts, review invoices for accuracy and follow up on outstanding invoices, maintain invite list for webinars, etc.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• BA/BS and 2 years of experience in two main areas: (1) economics and/or real estate, and (2) sustainability
• Proficiency with sustainable real estate strategies including capital improvements, efficient operations and engagement programs.
• Proven strength in data entry, management, cleansing and analysis
• Highly organized project manager, pays close attention to details and keeps track of many moving pieces at once, with experience working across teams
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
