What you will do:
Directs production, delivery and all other operations for the plant, or assigned territory of organization by performing assigned duties personally or through subordinate staff. The ultimate goal for this position is to develop an environment of safe teamwork that results in quality product in a timely manner.
Main Responsibilities:
- Cultivate a positive safety culture at the plant location. Builds individual accountability and rewards/ recognition into safety approach.
- Interview, schedule and train new hires, including orientation, and ongoing training (including MSHA/OSHA specific training requirements).
- Collaborates with the local Safety and Environmental Departments to maintain a safe working environment that complies with company standards, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
- Effectively coach and document employee's performance with feedback.
- Prepare timely company reports and employee timecards/timesheets.
- Demonstrate and communicate high standard of customer service and satisfaction by working in conjunction with internal and external customers.
- Ensure the plant, all processes and equipment meet or exceed MSHA/OSHA guidelines, and legal safety guidelines.
- Assist with accident and environmental investigation/compliance.
- Coordinate with quality control on testing material to ensure it meets specifications.
- Knowledge of cone/crusher assembly to include when repairs are needed, and how to measure tolerance.
- Must have knowledge of drilling & mining process. Also, responsible for the scheduling and performance of the drilling and blasting.
- Purchase parts for the plant and coordinate with Procurement.
- Monitor material percentages in order to properly manage inventory.
- Knowledge of mining.
- Perform all other duties assigned by company management.
Experience and abilities you will need:
Required:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in quarry or building materials manufacturing industry to include plant maintenance.
- 2 years supervisory / management experience.
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact with drivers and customers.
Desired:
- Broader industry knowledge.
- Understanding of plant and equipment used in the ready-mix concrete, aggregate and asphalt businesses
