Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Taxation is seeking a hourly Administrative Staff Assistant with a highly professional demeanor to provide confidential administrative assistance and project support for the Commissioner and leadership team members. This individual will report to and provide back-up support for the Commissioner's Executive Assistant ensuring the smooth operation of the Commissioner's Office. As a member of the Commissioner's administrative support staff, the incumbent independently performs a variety of administrative activities in support of several agency-wide programs, projects, and initiatives.
What you can expect in this position:
You will perform a variety of administrative duties to include producing and proofreading memoranda, letters and other documents, answering and routing incoming calls, making copies, filing and assisting with presentations for executives. Other aspects of the role involve records management, making travel arrangements, making purchases in accordance with the agency's procurement processes, planning/coordinating meetings and assisting with new employee orientation.
This is an HOURLY/WAGE POSITION, that is limited to 1500 hours per cycle year (May 1 - April 30 of each year) with an average of 29 hours per week. No state benefits provided.
This is an onsite position in downtown, Richmond, VA

Minimum Qualifications
Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Experience performing a variety of administrative tasks
Ability to effectively compile, organize, prepare, and maintain a variety of records, reports and information
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to support and manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
Skill in providing quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Additional Considerations
Experience in a state government agency
