THE POSITION

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is seeking an Administrative Specialist IIto join the Civil Unit and anAdministrative Specialist IIto join the Concealed Handgun License (CHL) Unit.

The Civil Unit Opportunity:
The Civil Unit is looking for someone to support Civil Deputies and serve the public by reviewing and processing civil documents and answering civil process questions from the public. Additionally, they will research statutes in support of documents serviced by Civil Deputies and work directly with internal and external criminal justice partners.
The ideal candidatein the Civil unit will possess the skills necessary to learn complex legal concepts related to civil processes and the sheriff’s role in serving court documents and court orders. They will effectively handle multiple priorities and perform diverse administrative duties and functions requiring confidentiality, initiative, and sound decision-making. They may have a background in supporting law enforcement or court processes.
The CHL Unit Opportunity:
The Concealed Handgun License (CHL) unit is looking for someone to conduct administrative tasks, including collecting payments, recording fees, and balancing day-end reconciliation. They will research statutes in support of Concealed Handgun License applications and license issuance. They will fingerprint public applicants and Washington County employees and answer public questions while working directly with internal and external criminal justice partners.
The Ideal candidate in the CHL unit will possess strong communication skills to communicate effectively with the public, particularly persons who may be denied a CHL due to disqualifying factors. They will be able to utilize specialized software such as WebLEDS, RMS, and CAD. They will effectively handle multiple priorities and perform diverse administrative duties and functions requiring confidentiality, initiative and sound decision-making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • A high school diploma or equivalent; and
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience providing administrative or clerical support.
  • Possession of Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or other applicable certifications may substitute for up to one (1) year of the experience requirement.
ADDITIONAL LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND SPECIALTY REQUIREMENTS
  • Some positions may be required to possess a valid driver's and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
  • This position will be required to pass a criminal background investigation conducted by the Sheriff's office and a pre-employment drug screen.

  • Start Date:A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.

This is a non-represented position and is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
Regular and limited duration full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week and job share employees are eligible for benefits beginning on the first of the month following employment. Job share employees are responsible for 50% of the premium. Part-time regular, variable hour, and temporary positions are not eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits.
