The College of Health and Human Services is looking for an Office Assistant to work in the Dean’s Office. This position is a customer service-orientated position to assist CHHS faculty, staff, and students. Job duties may vary based on those needs. We are seeking someone dependable who is open to being trained on a variety of administrative tasks. A professional demeanor and positive attitude are essential to this position. Administrative Support – 60%
- Meet and greet people entering the office.
- Directing visitors as needed (to PT, advising, etc.).
- Provides support for various responsibilities such as hiring and onboarding.
- Addressing other inquiries as they arise (i.e. custodial/building questions, room reservations, parking permits).
- Answers questions, and asks for appropriate person/people or directing to correct place if unable to answer questions.
- Answers and route phone calls to appropriate parties.
- Logging items that come in and out of the office, including key log (physical and virtual), lost and found log and the Dean’s Office Call Log (help track reasons for student phone calls).
- Maintains Dean’s Office Log: Travel requests, requests to add/drop after the deadline, grade change forms, etc. After logging, determining whether the document needs to be signed by someone else, sent through intercampus mail, etc.
- Approving/stamping and posting flyers on bulletin boards, using good judgment- no soliciting, selling, renting etc. allowed. Removing outdated/unstamped posters in hallway (also remove if not NAU-affiliated).
- Complete hand-written thank you notes.
Communication & Collaboration – 35%
- Provide support to Advisors, as needed by answering basic advisement questions, emailingstudents basic advisement information (use scripts for nursing) and scheduling advising appointments for students.
- Provides general clerical support for the Dean’s Office Staff, such as scheduling room reservations, filing, organizing, copying, distributing mail, managing the printer, providing light office cleaning and document shredding.
- Support Video Conference meetings with set up and close down.
- Responsible for communications support, including taking photos, supporting content creation for social media, collateral creation using design tools – flyers and provides events support.
Other – 5%
- Duties as Assigned.
- Requires high school degree.
- 1 -3 years of relevant experience required.
- A combination of related education, experience and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.

This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Hourly salary begins at $21.50. Salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to University policy. Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.
This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible position.
