Examples of Duties
Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning, managing, developing work rules, training, coordinating, and administering all activities and personnel of such staff positions as administration, citizen participation, research, and finance, and manages such personnel as are assigned to specific functions in the performance of the necessary duties. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's Degree is required. Four years of full time paid management or administrative experience is required. (Substitution: Two years of experience may substitute for each year of college education lacking. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.

Departmental Requirements
This is a senior management position which reports directly to the
Director of the Mayor's Office of Capital Projects. The Manager provides design,
planning, and strategic leadership and manages/supervises work performed by division
personnel, and also makes recommendations for improving efficiency and production.
Department Duties:
- Leads architectural and landscape architectural services required in the design, construction, alteration, and addition to buildings and open public spaces owned by the City. Sees projects through from initial conception through final completion and occupancy, ensuring quality control, on-time delivery, and sound budget management.
- Coordinates the work of consultant architects and engineers and City staff in the execution of design services.
- Develops long-range capital plans for City facilities based on usage, needs, facility conditions, and strategic goals of the City and its various departments.
- Assists with required legislation, budgeting, and fund allocation.
- Works with user and stakeholder groups in various departments to establish planning priorities and collaboratively develop project designs.
- Communicates effectively with City Council and Administration leadership on plans, projects, and Division operations.
- Manages, coordinates and supervises division personnel.
- Supervises work performed by staff and make recommendations for improving efficiency and production within the Division.
- Discovers solutions and resources to resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Develops preliminary construction drawings and/or specifications as directed or needed.
- Follows all operations and safety policies and safe work practices.
- Attends and participates in operations and safety training classes and demonstrates competence.
- Supervises Division staff (currently 10 staff members)
- Must possess a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited college or university.
- Five (5) years of full time paid experience as a Registered Architect.
- Must be a registered Architect in the State of Ohio with an active license to seal plans and specifications that are generated by the Division.
- State of Ohio Architectural registration must have been kept current and without administrative action from time of original issuance and at all times during employment.
- A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.
- Must have demonstrated proficient knowledge of AutoCAD 2-D and Microsoft Office Suite programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- A working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint collaboration software and project planning software is desirable.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to make job related decisions and solve problems on multiple tasks and, at times, must be able to work some non-traditional hours.
