Mount Pleasant Church of God: Mount Pleasant Church of God is a growing church in the town of Mount Pleasant. We have an active church, and this place is hopping just about every day with an active youth and children's ministry, women's ministry, girl's groups, men's ministry opportunities etc. We also reach out through a Gifts of Hope ministry, Operation Christmas Child, a food distribution, our clothing closet, etc.
Church Secretary/Administrative Assistant
Provide a welcoming, supportive, and positive environment for the congregation and all visitors. Provides administrative/office support to the Pastor, church staff, church council, and other organizations of the church. Communicate effectively and clearly in all situations. Maintains strict confidentiality, both during and outside of office hours, when handling sensitive information regarding the church, church council, church organizations, and or members of the congregation. Be a Christian Witness both during and outside of office hours.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Answer phones, monitor email, open mail. Act on or distribute phone messages, emails and mail to appropriate individuals as necessary. Notify Pastor of congregant illness, hospitalizations, deaths, etc., in a timely and accurate manner.
Order church and office supplies and other materials, resolve issues with office equipment.
Prepare all materials for services/events, as needed, or requested including typing, proofreading, copying and assembling church bulletins, monthly calendar, order of service handout for worship leaders, music packets, etc. Select and setup images, titles, lyrics, etc., for Easy Worship and PowerPoint slide presentations for Worship Services. Manage and maintain church calendars, Pastor calendars, all bulletin boards, and information tables.
Prepare and send weekly communication, by email, to church attendees utilizing MailChimp.
Compile, validate, and maintain data for all church functions/services, such as attendance, church directory, memberships, baptisms, etc., utilizing and maintaining the PowerChurch Database.
Validate and reconcile monthly credit card statement and petty cash. Retain receipts for all purchases and forward them to the Church Treasurer monthly.
Maintain all necessary documentation required by the COGMP Child Protection Policy, (i.e., application forms, reference checks, copies of all clearances, etc.) including a renewal schedule for all employee/volunteer Act 33, Act 34, and Act 114 clearances.
Manage building rentals, (i.e., speaking with requestor, accepting application, receiving/maintaining insurance certificate, scheduling payment, etc.) with assistance of Youth Outreach Discipleship Associate. Inform the Head Trustee of any facility issues.
Manage and retain current license agreements, standard forms, ministry literature and church legal documents. Maintain organized electronic and hard copy files and update them as appropriate.
Prepare email and hard copies of materials for monthly Church Council meeting. Copy and assemble all information for the Annual Congregational Meeting, including ballots. Copy and file monthly Council Meeting Minutes, Annual Congregational Minutes, and other documents throughout the church year, as required or requested. Post all necessary notices regarding church policy and special congregational meetings.
Assist Pastor in scheduling weddings, funerals, baptisms, membership classes, and prepare necessary paperwork including certificates for each.
Work with Webmaster for electronic posting of events or changes to the church website, as necessary or requested.
Prepare and maintain office procedures and reference manual.
Other related duties as assigned.

Hours: Part-time - 27.5 hours per week
Pay/Benefits: $15-17.50/hour commensurate with experience. Paid holidays and vacation.
Education:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Minimum 2-years clerical/administrative experience
