We are currently seeking candidates for an Administrative Specialist position, located in our Wallops Island, VA station. Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island requires support for management, engineering, operation, and technical expertise for activation, operations, maintenance, and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs in support of all Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) missions and projects performed at SCSC. SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric, maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate, and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides exceptional customer service by welcoming internal and external stakeholders, determining the nature of business, and guiding the appropriate personnel or department.
- Answers phone calls and directs callers to the appropriate personnel or department.
- Creates a variety of documents including naval correspondence, policies, reports, meeting minutes, and presentations using Microsoft Office applications.
- Maintains electronic and hardcopy files in accordance with records retention policies.
- Maintains accurate data in a variety of databases.
- Prioritize workflow, resolve challenges, conduct research, and demonstrate attention to detail.
- Plans and executes activities related to visits, ceremonies, and conferences.
- Maintains schedules for departments and conference rooms.
- Administers department processes as required.
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of three years of experience in developing and maintaining documentation.
- Previous experience in database maintenance.
- A good understanding of business information systems is essential.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Project, Visio, Teams, Sharepoint, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Strong grasp of spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and various writing styles, including creative, professional, and technical.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize workflow and multi-task efficiently.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness.
- Effective communication skills, capable of expressing ideas clearly both orally and in formal reports.
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired, however, candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations on base.
- Must be able to work varied shifts between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
- Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
- Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lbs.
